I recently had the chance to try this amazing BenRiach 35 year old single malt whisky. The taste of soft tropical fruits with a hint of chocolate cover the palate, then comes a wave of toasted oak spice and creamy vanilla. This super smooth age expression is everything you can imagine, with an elegant long finish that just keeps on giving.

Glenmorangie Spìos Private Edition No 9. This delicious gem has been fully matured in casks that previously held rye whiskey! Dr. Bill Lumsden picked casks used to age whiskey made from a 95% rye mash bill for six years. This gives the single malt whisky a velour mouthfeel, rich creamy vanilla, nutmeg and toffee flood the palate with a good linger of soft oak on the finish.

A world of difference in terms of taste, the 47 once was my favourite batch and it still stays on top after having tried several later batches. So it was a good day when I managed to get me another. I picked up this amazing single malt when recently visiting the Glenlivet Distillery! The 13 year old single cask edition is exclusively available to the visitor centre shop only. matured in a single 2nd Fill Sherry Butt for 13 years prior to bottling at cask strength of 61.9%. Powerful at first but once it settles on the palate you get notes of rich vanilla with soft fruity spices, with a creamy mouthfeel. The linger is intense and long with spicy oak on the tail end. Only 864 50cl bottles were produced, so it’s definitely worth picking one up when visiting the distillery!

This beauty is a 1961 Glenfarclas that was bottled in 2009 which makes it 48 years old! Called the Spirit of Independence.. Not sure why.. This was matured in 2 Oloroso Sherry casks and limited to 336 bottles at 50.5% ABV. Color on this is amazing. I'm a big fan of Glenfarclas and this one promises to be amazing!
