KNEE CAVING IN {squat tweaks}
.
Throooowback to a fun collab with @achievefitnessboston - I talk in in! And mess up what I mean to say! ...Which is probs why I don’t talk anymore (what I say: lateral knee collapse, what I mean: medial knee collapse)
.
So a super common issue that we both see in our gym/clinic settings- a valgus knee collapse in a squat movement.
.
Valgus knee collapse is the "caving in" of one or both knees when preforming a squat. This points us in a couple directions for treatment but one of the main culprits usually is some sort of glute(med) insufficiency- generally something is either tight/ or something is off with firing/patterning.
.
Two easy drills to help both these happs:
.
banded speed skaters: to get things firing- band around knees kick out and back at a 45° angle don’t let body sway or stabilizing knee fall inward
.
banded tempo squats: to regroove that proper motor patterning
.

E nesta altura que se constroem as bases que vos vão acompanhar sempre, sendo a execução correcta e adaptada ao indivíduo de extrema importância . Só depois é que deve ser incrementada a carga de acordo com um esquema de progressão bem delineado mas bastante simplista, afinal de contas o vosso progresso vai ser linear visto que são iniciantes.

How do you overcome emotional eating if you’re stressed?

The majority of us, find comfort in food when we’re overwhelmed. Sounds harmless.. but it tends to cause an increase in guilt, which creates habits as we feel shamed, which feeds this action with energy, creating secrets and the self-sabotage wheel begins to spin.
.
Having worked with many clients over the years, what I hear most often is how stress leads to emotional eating.
.
I’ve also succumbed to the overwhelm of life, then found comfort in my favourite food.
.
What does this really mean and why do we do this?
.
Recognise that, you are an emotional being.
.
Emotional eating is an unconscious attraction toward foods which fills (momentarily) an emotional void.
.
It’s common to lean toward comfort food to escape dealing with the emotions rising within us.
.
If this post is talking to you, I suggest you endevour to become a more conscious being. With increased awareness and practice, you can identify the feelings and sit with it instead of immediately responding to it. - This takes practice.
.
To be with an emotion means to experience it mindfully. Being the observer, without assigning meaning or judgement.
.
Make the decision to yourself, the next time you’re in the middle of an emotional spiral, note how you feel before you dive into food you may possibly regret later.
.
And more importantly, be patient and have compassion towards your beautiful self.
.
I admire ANYONE that is on a mission to change habits. It takes commitment and drive - but I know you have it within you to make POWERFUL change!

Obviously if you’re REALLY focusing on losing weight, you’re best bet is to weigh your food so that you know EXACTLY what you’re putting in your body. Sometimes this isn’t easy though and you’ve got to decide on portions on the fly, so I’d recommend saving this for future reference⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
