(Something I never imagined I'd be saying 3 years ago, when I had only just started to teach myself how to embroider...) Last week, I hand embroidered 14 metres of table runners for the @notonthehighstreet Christmas in July event (scroll through to see the INCREDIBLE table set up ) When it comes to commissions, this was in a whole new league for me - they were embroidered with the story of @notonthehighstreet and took me over 18 hours to do, BUT LOOK AT THEM! I am so grateful to have reached a "point in my career" (this is not a career, but I can't think of what the equivalent phrase would be for small businesses/makers) at which I am commissioned to do stuff like this. They took ages, my eyes and shoulders and fingers hurt, my bum went numb from being sat down for so long, and Royal Mail "lost" them for a few hours (which resulted in quite a lot of tears from me), but in the end....TA DAH! ✨ Beautiful photos of the event set up provided by @notonthehighstreet

My entry for this week’s @spoonflower design challenge “Fitness” - When I read about this theme I was tempted to draw cute cats doing yoga but since it was also mentioned that one should keep in mind that the pattern should be used for fitness wear I decided to go abstract with my favourite colours and dancing shapes, inspired by the ribbons the gymnasts use for their performance. Some of you have followed our dinner parties in the past and last night we added another entry to our dinner book. It was a wonderful evening of friends, laughter, food, drink and the love of beautiful objects. It gave us a chance to use our newly acquired antique monogrammed french glassware and Georgian silver cutlery, both purchased on our trip to Scotland, and also our contemporary Italian surtout de tables decorations that we bought in Venice in February. All the flowers and the table were beautiful arranged by @daimtan21 whilst I beavered away in the kitchen. The porcelain is a mixture of Wedgwood, Minton and Copeland Spode with lots of engraved glass, English silver and handmade Canary Islands linen.
