- QUICK THOUGHT OF THE DAY - Being scared of our goals is normal. It means that they’re big enough to make us question whether we should go for that road or just be more reasonable. We think we’re not capable, not smart enough, not strong enough. We think we might get lost along the way, and end up failing miserably. However, not trying to pursue that goal can become our biggest regret, and we know that, because that’s why we hesitate so much. So how do we choose? How can we make it less scary? Imagine if the road towards your goal was all rainbows and unicorns and without any kind of struggle. Try, just for one moment, to ignore all the long work hours, all the problems that may arise and all the possibly negative scenarios. Would you now go for that goal without hesitation? If the answer is yes, then go for it ! If you’re still hesitant, try to think back to all the times you did something you thought you couldn’t. Think back to how it felt and how proud you were of yourself! Do you feel more confident now? Also, remember that most of the time, achieving goals is just the cherry on top and that what matters is what you’ve learned along the way. You may even be surprised of how things turn out ! This time of year has always been synonymous with stress. Exams are approaching, and while I don't feel worried or nervous about them, I'm becoming irritable, jittery and extremely asocial, which are definitely signs of test anxiety for me! . . . A bunch of people here will or are taking exams currently and I feel that very often there's this idea that we have to get rid of stress as much as possible so that it doesn't hinder performance. However, I would urge everyone here to keep in mind that stress is not something to run away from or fear. Use it to your advantage. Short term stress results in certain changes in our body with can actually aid us in preparing and sitting exams. You become more efficient and memorise more information over a shorter time frame than you normally would. You get a burst of energy and thus can run on less sleep. Problems arise when you experience long term stress, or your stress levels are too high and affect your health. Some amount of anxiety and stress can actually facilitate your exam performance so find your optimal level and use it to aid you in managing your time wisely and attaining those marks! How do you stay motivated? . . . .... is a question I often get asked here. To be quite honest, I don't understand why people think I'm particularly motivated. In actual fact I doubt my competence far too often, and as you can imagine, this does not help my cause . . . It's completely natural for there to be times of uncertainty in our lives, paired with a loss of interest in doing something. After all, our world is not a stable one and our lives do not go according to the plans we have drawn up for ourselves. . . . In these moments of uncertainty, I believe you should remind yourself of what is at stake- is the tuition expensive? Do you have to repeat the year if you fail your exams? Remind yourself of the reasons why you're even doing all of this. What do you want to ultimately achieve and why do you want to attain that particular goal? Why? Keep asking yourself that, search for those answers. When you find what you're looking for, write it down on a piece of paper and stick it on your wall. Write your name on it in big writing, your dream job, title, qualifications... whatever is relevant to you. Look at that piece of paper every day and work towards it! . . . However, if you can't find a reason that will energise you enough to keep pushing, perhaps you should reconsider what you're doing currently and look for an alternative path to reach your goal. . . . I'm back with a notes video you guys :> It's been a crazy final week at uni and as promised here is a brief synopsis of my excuse for being so unresponsive: . . On Monday I had a pretty big group presentation and for the first time ever I didn't feel nervous about speaking in public ☺ . . . I started research for a report writeup (you may recall back in March I asked if people wanted to fill out a questionnaire for me- it's that report!) on Tuesday but thankfully we got an extension so I spent the day (and the night) making my group's academic poster. . . . On Wednesday I sent the poster for printing and then went for a group study session to prepare for our end of year exam in Social psych which we sat on Thursday. The next day was uneventful apart from the exam so we spent the rest of Thursday practicing presenting the academic poster. . . . On Friday we presented it (I had the poster up in stories), there were 2 rounds of presenting and about 4 hours of waiting time in between The entire class went to celebrate the end of lectures afterwards. My mates and myself stuffed ourselves with chips, played foosball as well as video games and chatted away until the night- I'm not particularly crazy when it comes to celebrating. I was super exhausted and spent the next day recovering from all this haha. Do you snack while working? And what do you like to snack on? I try to eat healthy snacks but as the end of the semester approaches I always turn to stuff like in the photo . . . I submitted my last assignment early this morning and started making notes for research methods but it's been such a slow day, for some reason I just didn't get much done although I worked for hours. I made a study plan for this week and barely got a tenth done of what had to be finished today oof.
