TEACHER FEATURE: Here's teacher Michael (@teacher__michael ) and his journey with Dino . "I’ve been a VIPKid teacher for over 2 years. When I first started, I was mainly using VIPKid to supplement my income in between performance contracts at my other job as a travelling puppeteer...which leads me to the story of how I ended up with a Dino plushie. . I had just finished a 7 week puppet contract in China and decided to visit the VIPKid head office in Beijing before heading home via Vietnam. Before I left the Beijing office, I was gifted with a Dino doll because, well, I didn’t have one yet! . From there, Dino and I went to Vietnam where I taught a few classes, ate some delicious food, and snapped this photo. One of my favourite parts about this job is that it can travel with me anywhere in the world! . My advice for anyone interested in teaching and travelling is to start small. Start locally. Teach a few classes from an Air BnB in your city...or just set up shop at grandma's for the weekend. . Practice getting comfortable setting up your classroom somewhere new and practice using fewer props. Prepare yourself for what it will be like to teach and travel. . Once you’ve done that there’s no limit to where in the world you can take your classroom!!"

It's #vipkidmonday and I want to know your summer plans! Have you ever taught with VIPKid during the summer? Here are a few tips: . Peak times: For most of our students, they will be on summer vacation for the months of July & August. Since the students will not be in school, they may take classes at any time during the day (mornings, afternoons, or evenings BJT). This is great for teachers who would like to explore different time slots. The downside is that you may encounter sporadic bookings, with random times selected throughout your schedule. But hey, it's a great opportunity for those overnight shifts! . Trials: Normally we see an increase in trial classes during the summer months, so make sure you have the new trial certification! Also, keep an eye out for other special courses offered like Summer Camp classes. . Bookings: More students, more classes, right? Not necessarily. For one thing, many students leave on holidays with their families. You may notice that a regular will be missing for an entire month, and then pop back on your schedule. Another consideration is that the brick & mortar teachers will be increasing their work hours in the summer which will impact the distribution of classes. My advice would be to open up as many time slots as you can in order to have steady bookings. . Communication: If you and your family are going on vacation this summer, be sure to let the parents know. You could write a stock message in your class feedback, change the description in your profile, or write to the parents via WeChat. Communication is key . Student behaviour: You may notice some changes in student behaviours. This is because the students will no longer have the same sleeping or eating schedules, and things might be "off" initially as they try to adapt to their new routines. Sometimes the students have an abundance of energy, and other times they're in a slump. Having patience, understanding, and some tricks up your sleeve will definitely help keep them motivated in the classroom. What are your suggestions for the summer months?

Looking at this picture, you see happiness and joy... what you can’t hear is the scream that came from the mother of my student as she ran towards me and hugged me as if we were long lost sisters. What you can’t hear is the sobbing coming from both of us and the sound of my student’s feet as he excitedly jumped around us in circles. This was the perfect capture from a moment that literally made me want to stop and pinch myself.. I’ve known this family for over a year and a half; but we’ve only talked on the computer. When my student shared that he was coming to America, there was only a question of “when, where?” Followed by, “I’ll see you there.” This was the most incredible feeling... it was truly surreal.
