Sometimes...you just have to treat yourself . The sugar detox challenge was SUCH a great learning experience and experience in itself! I never realized how addicted to sugar I was until I did this detox. But since I was committed the 7 days and worked so hard, today Jeff and I wanted to treat ourselves! And that we did . I will always allow myself treats in *moderation* (because honestly, food is good and I love my sweets) but now I have a better understanding of just how much sugar I was eating without even realizing it and why it’s so bad for you! . Some ways I have learned to cut out extra sugar are: . ☕️ in my coffee: Instead of putting wildly sweet creamers in my coffee OR just straight sugar and cream, I now use either stevia sweetener or monk fruit! (Which is my first choice). It is zero calories and has zero sugar but tastes just like it! #win . nutrition facts / labels: I never used to look at how much sugar was in certain foods I loved. I’ve now learned to read not only the grams of sugar, but also the grams of ADDED sugar. . naturally sweet foods: when I have a sweet tooth now, I find it much more satisfying and more guilt-free eating foods that naturally have sugar in them, like strawberries, bananas, and honey! These are not synthetic sugars that are soooo bad for your health but instead sugar in its natural form. . In conclusion, sugary sweet treats should be just that.... TREATS! If we want our bodies to be healthy and function their best, we have to be mindful of how much sugar we are eating. Here’s a few negatives about sugar: . research has shown sugar can actually be more addictive than cocaine and even changes your brain’s chemistry...yikes! . ⚖️ added sugars can cause serious weight gain and crests visceral fat. . can directly cause acne by spiking blood sugar which in turn creates inflammation, excess oil, and androgen secretion. . can derail your mood and foods that are high in sugar and highly processed have been directly linked to depression. . can cause you to age prematurely.... no thank you!!
