Neuer Lebensabschnitt⬇️ Ich stehe nun an dem Punkt, an dem ich mich für das entscheiden muss, was ich mein Leben lang machen werde. Findet ihr nicht auch, dass es absolut krass ist, im Alter von 18/19 Jahren entscheiden zu müssen, was ihr die nächsten Jahrzehnte arbeitet Ein Jahr lang habe ich mal hier, mal da gearbeitet, hier ein Praktikum gemacht und da eins gemacht, habe angefangen Pharmazie zu studieren und festgestellt, dass es nichts für mich ist. Ich bereue die Zeit nicht, da ich viele Erfahrungen machen und mein Leben in den Griff bekommen konnte, mir Zeit lassen durfte, um das zu finden, was letztendlich zu mir passt. Ich habe mich nun entschieden, mein Hobby zu meinem Beruf zu machen. Ich möchte den Sport meinem Job nicht unterordnen, da er nicht nur eine Phase für mich ist, sondern mein Leben. Ich habe mit unter auch ihm meine jetzige #lebenseinstellung zu verdanken und bin absolut zufrieden damit. Ich freue mich sehr auf die kommende Zeit! Wie habt ihr zu eurem Beruf gefunden? Durch ein Hobby, Familie oder Ereignisse in eurer Vergangenheit, die euch so geprägt haben, dass ihr eure Erfahrungen an andere weitergeben wollt? A few nights ago I spoke with a family friend; he and I aren't close, but a couple of months ago he needed a consult for his recurring colorectal cancer, and I helped him find a new doctor. He ended up going to this doc, who promptly got him a PET-CT and started him on chemo. When we spoke a few days ago, he thanked me profusely and even though I tried to explain to him that all I'd done was speak to a friend, who asked HER friend for help, he was adamant that he was alive today because of me, which was touching but of course, untrue. . . . . I hugged him goodbye, wished him luck with the next morning's chemo, went back upstairs and cried. I cried silent tears for the hope that glimmered in his eyes, hope that he'd be cured despite his multiple metastases. For all the patients we'd seen as medical students, both young and old, who'd gotten diagnoses reminiscent of death sentences. And I cried for all the patients I've yet to see, the ones I will undoubtedly be saying goodbye to... . . . I know death is a part of medicine. I know coping with it is something that can't be taught. But knowing it and living it are two different things. . . . This postcard is of one of my newfound favorite paintings; it's an oil painting by Caravaggio (1605), called St. Jerome Writing. I don't usually by souvenirs when I travel, but when I saw this during my trip to Rome, I was immediately taken by it.
