8 principles to selecting perfect colour palettes ⁣ ⁣ ⚡️Obviously you can turn to tools to find palettes but as a designer it’s crucial to understand color theory and how palettes work. ⁣ ⁣ In this article I start by sharing the various type of color on the color wheel. So often designers misuse terms like shade and fail to ever use tint or saturation when talking about color. ⁣ From here I jump into the various palette options. 8 gradient UI color rules ⁣ ⁣ Gradients normally make designers a little uncomfortable. They are bold and a little scary at times. ⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ There are various types of gradients to learn. Linear, radial and angular. It’s crucial to know the difference for your components. ⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ Randomly pairing colors for gradients May be fun but avoid complimentary pairing. ⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ Transparency is a secret gradient weapon. Use transparency of the same color to create awesome fades. ⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ always look to nature for inspiration! ⁣ ⁣ These 8 rules should help you create level up and consistent gradients in your #ui⁣ ⁣

8 principles to color contrast accessibility⁣ ⁣ 1️⃣ Accessibility is normally ignored or left till last during any mock-up or prototyping phase. Always be thinking, is this accessible to everyone?⁣ ⁣ 2️⃣ I recommend using the plugin Stark to check for contrast on your components. ⁣ ⁣ 3️⃣ These 8 principles are targeting common contrast mistakes designers make. For me, these 8 components are normally barriers to accessibility.⁣ ⁣ 4️⃣ Try to use color contrast cleverly for your states. Flick to grouped buttons for an obvious example of this. ⁣ ⁣ ✋Hands up if that last mock-up didn’t pass the 4.5:1 contrast ratio⁣?
