10 records I'd bring with me to a desert island, part 2: Another no brainer, Soundgarden has always and always will be one of my favorite bands. The first time I heard this album my jaw completely dropped - the heavy riffs, the gruesome screams, the dark lyrics, Chris' always so sublime voice, the intro to 4th of July etc. I can't emphasize how much I love this album. Nine Inch Nails - The Fragile This album is another shining beacon that illuminated a new musical path for me. My first Nine Inch Nails obsession that a love for all things alternative was built on. I will never forget the first time I heard Into the Void. It was one of those pivotal moments in my young life and I could literally feel my mind instantly expand. And I wanted more. After buying this album, I discovered The Downward Spiral, Broken and Pretty Hate Machine, all of which I adored. It also brought Marilyn Manson into my life, which is a whole other story, and prepared me for loving Tool and The Deftones. This album really has a lot to answer for in shaping my music taste and album collection. I will be forever grateful What are some of your shining beacon albums?

Ramones series post #1: Our new series is dedicated to the memory of Joey Ramone (1951–2001), Dee Dee Ramone (1951–2002), Johnny Ramone(1948–2004) and Tommy Ramone (1949–2014). I was lucky enough to see them once in 1994, even though I wasn't a fan yet. That certainly changed and this album, which is as old as me, is probably my favourite.
