It blows my mind that on this day six years ago I found out I was pregnant & boy has life changed, but for the better in so many ways I’ve learned how to love without condition & with no limitation ❤️ I’m feeling thankful & blessed for the time with my little guy over summer break. Every morning I wake up to this smile. Times 2. . Every morning my back hurts and my head is turned in some crazy uncomfortable position but at the same time, I have never felt more comfortable in my own skin. . Every morning I see Martin sleeping (ever so peacefully because both kids somehow manage to only use me as their pillow ) on the other side of the bed and I slowly wiggle my way over to give him a morning kiss. . Every morning Martin stands up, stretches loudly and says to all three of us "Good Morning My Pikachus" and heads over to the window to open our very very old and squeaky Italian shutters to let ALL the light in. . We all hide from the sun in cuddles and then slowly let the heat sink into our skin. . Every morning we take a solid 45 minutes to get out of bed. It just wouldn't work any other way. We are all equally in need of lots of affection and love after 10 hours of sleeping together. Makes perfect sense, right? . Every morning Martin and I exchange the same exact words that we have shared since the boys first day in the hospital.... . "How did we get so lucky? Just....how?" . I don't think I'll ever know why the Universe chose me to be the mother of these two little boys. I often wonder if there was a mistake in the stars. There are a million more women much more qualified and deserving than me. . And then I hear Leo say "Mama" and Alessandro plops his head on my chest and looks up at me with his beautiful eyes. He smiles and blows kisses at me. . All at once it hits me. . This is no mistake. . Who are we kidding? #Mothersday is everyday and with that, I would like to reflect of the woman who not only gave me life, but has taught me more than I can note of being the woman I am today and the mother I wish to be. __ That’s right, My mother! Probably the most selfless, patient person I know. I mean this with all seriousness. Regardless of how stubborn I can be or have been, she has always comforted me with open arms and comfort that all will turn out alright. (and… There have been too many of those moments through my 32 years). __ My mom has taught me that you achieve more by taking a step back, stopping and listening, rather than getting defensive or speaking without meaning. __ She has taught me to look on the bright side and that I don’t have to always have everything figured out. #Life is a learning process and lessons will always be taught. __ She has taught me the importance and value to learn how to do things on my own. She has taught me how to be independent before relying on someone else. __ Regardless the distance, disagreements, the rambling I do, bad days, circumstances, the persistence of wanting give a new idea a shot, etc; she has always provided unconditional love and unrelenting support. __ She is selfless and loving, devoted and always “just a call away”. She is a listening ear and a warm hug. She is supportive and proud. Being a mama. That is my favorite. I would have a dozen if my body would let me.⁣ ⁣ I have vivid memories babysitting as a child, holding sweet babies and thinking to myself, “some day I will have a baby that I don’t ever have to give back.” ⁣ ⁣ Motherhood is not always easy, but here’s the thing: the hard parts are basically as hard as you thought they would be. I have been up with Addisyn since 3am and am now sitting on the floor surrounded by toys. I have a 5 month old sleeping upstairs, a 2 year old running around like a maniac, a 6 year old coming home from school soon, and Addisyn napping in another bedroom. I’m a nanny and a mother so my whole world basically revolves around raising children. I find myself thanking God more and more for blessing me with the child he did. She is wild and drives me insane, but she’s exactly the little girl I was meant to have.
