How was your Christmas guys? Did you have a good time?
We definitively did, we tasted a lot of great wines and food together with family and friends. Unfortunately we were all separated, we are planning to drink something interesting together once we get back to Milan.
this year celebrated with a milestone... Chateau Latour 2001. Words don’t give justice to such a wine, probably a once in a lifetime occasion. Time to sit down and think

One more time a little bit skeptical about 1995 vintage in champagne...! Tasted side by side with Louis Roederer Cristal 1995. Amber gold color. Nose quite open and generous. Nice minerality, rocky character, same impression with 1996 vintage tasted 2 months earlier. Sugared fruits and sugared fruits purée. Caramel and slight oxidation, and nutty character. The palate shows gamy aromas. Nice mousse, sharp acidity. Maybe too sharp. Acidity is too overwhelming. The overall thing is too lean and lacks concentration. When higher in temperature, the wine will get a bit more dense but not enough. I like it fat and creamy! The wine is strict and vinous (again, same impression as 1996). After this flight we opened a 1996 Dom Pérignon that revealed MAGICAL (and much better than RD 1996). It has been 3 disappointing bottles of 1995 recently (Cristal, RD, Krug) despite good Dom Pérignon 1995 and insane Taittinger Comtes de Champagne 1995. Hard to make an opinion. Cheers!
