Thank you to my Instagram followers and friends who have helped me reach 15,000 followers today! ❤️ Most of you, or many of you, appreciate lovely art and antiques, mixed in a comfortable setting, so that they are practical for today’s living. I try my very best to post examples of that, and sometimes just a lovely vignette. . . This room has everything that I like, from antiquities to 18th century furniture and accessories, and a few items from the 19th century as well. I find the blue wall color to be quite charming and calming, and the light checkerboard floor to be a nice blend also. I might add an oriental rug area rug if it were me designing this room, but as it is I think it is quite nice. There is a modern, comfortable sofa and chair, and great light in this room. The tall lamps on the variegated rouge marble fireplace mantle and the interesting hanging of art work on the built-in bookshelves adds to the interest in this creatively decorated and designed room. Here is an interesting room, filled with everything from 18th and 19th century American, European and Asian looking furniture and accessories to 19th and 20th century artwork. A slipcovered sofa is extremely comfortable looking, and the oriental rug on the floor adds richness and also the blues and red colors that match the large painting above the sofa as well as the colorful pillows on the white sofa. Behind the sofa is a narrow table which is well used as a display for small antiquities and other accessories from various centuries. This room has great colors, a comfortable feel to it and good lighting. The finishing touch is a small vase with some fresh flowers on the intricately carved coffee table. A wonderfully creative way to use the space the side of the bed - especially but not necessarily the side one does not get up from in the morning! Aside from the antique desk and chair, the built-in bookshelf serves as a great place to showcase some 19th-century framed colored prints, antique boxes, both antique and contemporary books, and other antique accessories. What would otherwise be perhaps rather ordinary space next to the window is now transformed into a very useful and attractive vignette. Of special interest is the ornate antique silver urn which was turned into a lamp. Fresh flowers add to the beauty and very comfortable feeling of this quite often unused area of the bedroom. I find this vignette, where there is a beautiful large antique inlaid fall front desk, against a rich,mottled green wall to be lovely. 18th and 19th century antique accessories, including bronze wall sconces, a wonderful mirror with its original glass, silhouettes and leather bound books, are perfect accessories for this handsome desk. There is even an antique English pottery cow and calf group used as the base of the small lamp. The window treatment blends in beautifully with the green wall, and the two large windows light up the room, so that if someone actually wanted to work at this desk they could nicely.
