Is striving for Perfection holding you back? ✨ I had a really good chat with a friend today about this topic. I am a Virgo and thus a natural perfectionist and actually I think that’s been crippling me for some time now. Studies have shown perfectionism can lead to a paralyzing and procrastination-inducing fear of failure. If your aspirations are so high you can never possibly meet them, that can't possibly be good for your productivity and mental health. When people constantly worry about making mistakes, letting others down, or not measuring up to their own impossibly high standards the consequences of this incessant sense of failure and worry are grim. Being this sort of perfectionist can contribute to serious health problems, including depression, anxiety, eating disorders, fatigue and even early mortality. ☠️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I would say the fear of failure has totally ruined this prep for me. It’s taken the fun out of it and actually taken the fun out of me. So for those who I am close to, I am sorry. I won’t let this happen again. ‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ You don’t have to be PERFECT- Being good enough is actually ENOUGH so give yourself a break! Be perfectly imperfect and be happy with that! ✨ THIS IS WHAT DREAMS ARE MADE OF ✨ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Performing on the @arnoldsportsau stage a year and half after my first ever bodybuilding show (toned figure) only 5 months after winning my pro card in fitness (at my first ever fitness show) my 2nd pro show and my 4th ever competition! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you’d have asked me if I could have achieved all of this back in 2016 when I first picked up a weight I would have laughed at you! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ But, just look, there I am! Proof you can achieve ANYTHING you set your mind to - if you just work hard enough and believe in yourself! Never give up❗️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ If you have followed me for some time you know in my last prep I was very honest and open about where I was physique wise, I posted most check ins and updated my feed with current pictures. I was confident and proud of what I was achieving ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ However, this time round it’s been a different story. I have really struggled with this prep as you all know... my weights been really stubborn, along with my body fat and I have plateaued over and over again. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I could have given up a million times and I could have pulled out, I was just so worried of letting everyone down. But guys, this is the Arnold’s! Its invitation only and I couldn’t pass on this amazing opportunity. I am glad I kept going because finally, after lots of persistence, perseverance, low calories and high cardio I have had a weight drop ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ The LHS picture I took on the 9th of Feb and the RHS picture I took today. Please ignore my, just rolled out of bed, look! Guys, I cannot stress to you enough how important listening to your coach and reverse dieting is after a season. I started in a terrible position due to over indulging so much after my competition in Romania - safe to say I will not be doing that again! ‍♀️ ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Although I am not exactly where I want to be right now physically, mentality I have learnt a huge lesson and I hope I won’t repeat the same mistakes in the future - although not gonna lie, I really can’t wait for post show treats already! Feeling ridiculously happy, positive and grateful right now ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ Kind of the same way I was feeling on this day, shooting with the incredibly talented @jody_wright1, the day after I won my pro card ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ After last weeks disappointing result I wasn’t sure I would shake it off, but here I am!
