Every Sunday I have decided to recognize an inspirational Pilates post I’ve seen from the previous week and incorporate it into my routine. #yourpilatesinspiresme showcases the amazing work of others amongst our strong community. In a world full of competition and escalating negativity, let’s focus on the good and positive we have to offer ! This burpee concept comes from @praxis.pilates and is AMAZING! I swear it never occurred to me to mimic such a move on the reformer. Maybe it’s because I dread the traditional burpee on any given day ! Playing catch up on day 3 of #fiveelementsofyoga - today we have agni or fire represented by a pose where the core is at work. I've chosen Eka Pada Chaturanga, although this pose is more about the shoulders, I find it's the activation of the core that stops the belly from sinking which for me is super important here. Personally it really lights the fire within.
Agni or fire is associated with the manipura chakra and is associated with heat, power, strength, passion, transformation, and digestion. When fire is not in balance you can become depressed, lazy, and withdrawn (low fire) or irritable, angry, and aggressive (high fire). An imbalance of fire can also cause inflammation or indigestion. There are lots of ways you can balance this in your asana practice. You can increase your hold time in postures, you could add in more vinyasa transitions, you could practice pranayama such as breath of fire and you could incorporate more poses that work on the core.

Deep squats, and hip opening stretch, supported by the pedal to resist and assist the movement with additional #loopband around the knees for extra fire in the glutes. The focus is on keeping the external rotation in the hips and Neutral spine and pelvis ⚠️ The deeper you go the more intense and challenging it gets! This felt amazing and a great butt burner! Press into the feet to lift and control downward with the quads. ⚠️Stay active in the arches of the foot to avoid foot and ankle rolling inward. *
