I'm going to be honest with you, I was a little confused trying to learn Root. We did our first learn/play through game and I might know the rules (for the group I played...). The practice "overview" game may have just confused me more, but we got through it and finished a game. Now that I understand, I really like the game and want to really try again and make sure I have everything down. But three people trying to learn (when 2 know NOTHING) wasn't our best move. But I'm excited to try again! Plus even if I failed at the game the art alone is the BEST!!! . . Spooky deep dark caves await in Sub Terra This coop sees a teams of explorers desperately trying to escape an underground labyrinth. You have to overcome many natural hazards as well as some terrifying beasts that will hunt you down. The gameplay is a simple action selection, tile laying exploration game. You discover the map as you explore, desperately looking for the exit tile. Sub Terra has a great tension, as every turn you take you tick closer to running out of light, when your torch dies... nothing holds the beasts back. There is a fantastic mechanism at then where by once you have cycled through the deck, you roll a dice, if you roll bad your torch dies and so do you! This element of push your luck can see you all fail moments from victory, or see a player somehow beat the odds and escape. It’s a good group game, it can be hard and unforgiving but you should have fun whilst you suffer!

The Cleanup Crew! Last night we played Folklore. Like some of you know, I'm a journalist - so finding good stories is my jam. And that is why I enjoy Folklore so much! I immediately get the feeling I'm in a cool story. I've never tried D&D, but I'm guessing it gives you a similar experience? In Folklore I'm a female telepath, who helps my team communicate with the living and the dead - and since we won the battle against evil trees (! ) last night, I got to visit the market and by myself something pretty. So now I have a kickass tiara! Come at me, evil bros! EVERDELL! The tree which is a focal point on the table (and doesn’t get in the way two player) looks great and stores the additional woodland Meeples, End game score objectives, resources and the meadow cards.
