tomorrow marks the last day of mental health awareness month and let me tell you, this month has not been an easy one for me. ⋆ for a little while, back in february & march, I really thought of my mental health journey as largely in the past tense. I had gone through a lot, but it was all over, right? I was getting better—I was on the upswing? wrong. this past month & a half has been the hardest time in my life. I felt as though i’d lost everything—at least everything that had been constant in my life. I felt like I just wasn’t enough as a person. I felt like I didn’t have a purpose. i’ve been focusing far too much on what i’m not—not pretty enough, not funny enough, not strong enough to make it through this. this type of thinking got me contemplating suicide again. ⋆ but recently, as in the past few days, i’ve been trying to focus on what I AM. I am a great sister, daughter, & friend. I am a compassionate person who always puts others’ needs before my own. I am an incredibly intelligent college student. I’m creative & talented & optimistic. and I AM strong enough to make it through this. I am resilient. ⋆ so for now, i’m just going to continue focusing on what I AM. and i’m going to celebrate every tiny little victory.
