Creamy Rosemary Cashew Cheeze 1 cup of cashews (boiled for 15 mins or soaked overnight 1 tbs fresh rosemary (ground plus more for garnishing) 1 tsp lemon zest Juice 1/2 lemon 1/4 cup of water (more if too thick) 3 cloves of garlic Salt and pepper to taste Blend all ingredients until smooth, adding more water if needed. Estaré inventando diferentes combinaciones este verano entero! If I’m not having overnight oats my other super quick and nutrient dense breakfast is a protein smoothie bowl. For these I typically use frozen bananas to create the thickness along with any variety of berries (raspberries are antioxidant, fibre and vitamin C powerhouses), plant based milk, pea protein, hemp & chia seeds and some nuts or nut butter to get those unsaturated fats in. To be honest other than the bananas, plant based milk and pea protein all other ingredients get mixed up to encourage diversity in my diet.... diversity of our diet is directly correlated with diversity of the good bacteria in our gut which directly effects our ability to produce healthy metabolites like short chain fatty acids (e.g butyrate) and neurotransmitters (GABA, serotonin etc) which appear to help maintain the gut wall integrity, keep our mood elevated, reduce anxiety, power up our colon cells, minimise colon cancer and boost our immunity... and that’s just a few of their benefits. So don’t forget the #plantproof40 challenge - see if you can eat 40 unique plants in a week. Its a great target to aim for and if it seems a long way from where you are now start with 10, then next week 15, week after 20 and so forth and after a few months you’ll bet at 40. Simply delicious @thedepotbondi ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I start pretty much every single day with oats! Im really not sure I’ve come across a healthier breakfast. Here’s a few reasons: ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 1 - they are a great source of prebiotics (Beta Glucan + resistant starch) which feed the bacteria in your colon. This process results in the production of incredibly healthy metabolites such as short chain fatty acids which help regulate blood sugar, provide energy for your colon cells, decrease cholesterol synthesis, power up your immune system, improve overall G.I health and perhaps even directly affect brain health via the gut brain axis. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 2- oats are also a great source of insoluble fibre, which unlike prebiotic or soluble fibre doesn’t feed your bacteria. Instead insoluble fibre helps bulk your stool, remove toxins from the G.I tract & keep you regular! ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 3- 1 cup of oats contains 8 grams of fibre! By the time you add fruit, nuts and seeds your porridge likely has 12-15 grams of fibre, which is almost 50% of the Recommended Dietary Intake for fibre. In 2019 a series of systematic reviews and meta-analyses was published which showed across all of the data we have, from over 135 million person years, people who eat the most fibre enjoyed 15-30% less risk of premature death & death from cardiovascular disease, along with 15-30% less chance of developing coronary artery disease, type 2 diabetes, colorectal cancer or having a stroke.
