In two days we close on our house in Alaska and all I can do is cry. It feels like parting with our house makes it all too real that that chapter of our life is over. My head is swirling. Alaska brought us the best parts of our lives and also some of the scariest. Isn’t it funny though when you part with something all you can recall are the highlights. The mountains we summited, the camp outs and road trips. The awe-inspiring sights at every turn and the friends that became family. Alaska, you will forever be ingrain in our hearts. {This is the photo we posted to share our news about the move. To help move through my feelings I’m going to post Alaska photos in my stories for the next couple of days I hope you enjoy them }
When late afternoon light plays magic tricks in the Californian Redwoods... ✨
.
Never ever EVER would I have guessed that my #instagramhusband (who would panic every time I asked him to take a photo with our DSLR ) could learn to take a photo like THIS. I mean... It kind of blows my mind.
.
A year ago we were still using our smartphones, but everything changed when we learned how to use manual settings and Lightroom. The possibilities became endless and we fell in love with photography! And we’d love to share our passion with you too. If we can learn to capture moments like this, anyone can.
.
Busy parent, let me guess... There's a camera in the back of your wardrobe gathering dust?
.
Like me, perhaps you bought the camera when you had more free time (remember those days?!), and then kids and life happened, and wrapping your head around abstract things like aperture and shutter-speed seems waaaay too difficult now.
Yep, I've been there! ♀️ I remember that argggh feeling.
.
Maybe you just want to capture beautiful, candid images of your kids? Perhaps you see a memorable moment and grab your camera to shoot, only to miss the cheeky smile while fiddling with the controls. ♀️
.
Our kids are little for such a short period of time, and honestly, as parents all we want sometimes is to capture a few special memories. Is that too much to ask!
.
We get that messing around with manual settings and editing programs is frustrating, so we designed an online course specifically for busy parents. Our lessons explain the process as simply as possible (no complex terminology or confusing instructions). This photography course will take you from 'eff this' to effortless, I promise! .
.
Check out the link in our bio to see whether this course is a fit for you and read what our past-students have to say (one said it was the best investment she ever made)! Our students-only April fb group is running now, so I hope to see you inside .
.
.
And hey, if this isn’t for you, no worries! Keep scrolling yo feed
Hello hello

How do you get your kids to ____(part 2): GET OUTSIDE
Three years ago I stood atop an 11,752 foot peak with my 9 and 11 year olds and a handful of their closest friends. A sunrise to sunset, straight up and right back down fifteen mile day. A comment from another hiker at the top still rattles around my brain: “how do you get your kids to do this? My kids would NEVER do this”.
My kids don’t wake up in the morning asking to climb mountains. But we’ve had them moving and shaking their entire lives, and have worked up to longer days, steeper miles; it’s all about starting small. KIDS ARE AS TOUGH AS WE ALLOW THEM TO BE.
Do my kids whine that they are tired and their feet hurt and “mine pants are bothering me”? YES. We have been through years of this, so I say things like “yeah….my feet hurt too. Hey look at this cool flower. Let’s guess how many steps to that old tree. Snack break! (snacks = success) THEN TAKE YOUR PANTS OFF!” (true story).
And ALWAYS bribe them with ice cream at the end.
You have to remind your kids (and yourself) that it’s OK to be uncomfortable. It’s OK to do things that are hard. The views, and ice cream, are always worth it.
We have it so easy in this big adventure we call life. Everything we could ever need/want/don’t need but still want, is right within reach with buttons and apps and right-to-our-door service. We are too comfortable. Let’s get off the couch, away from our screens, and wander out of our comfort zones until our legs are tired.
Last weekend I had a “we have arrived” moment. My kids carried ALL of their own stuff on their backs, set up the tent, and kept pace for three days. It’s like they are small sized capable adults or something (except they still argued about who had to do the dishes). They lead the way, took pictures, and oohed and aahed at how amazing the desert is. All those years of “are we there yet” and having to carry the pants they refuse to wear are worth it, I promise.
LET’S DO HARD STUFF. Leave our distractions, really get inside our bodies and brains and FEEL something. And let’s drag our kids along with us; they may complain, but they will most likely get used to it
“If you wait until you’re ready, you’ll never be ready.” It’s a phrase you’ve probably heard a whole lot in your life, but sometimes, in a moment, it feels like you’ve heard it for the first time, like before we started having babies and asked a friend who was young and had 4 close in age how he knew it was time... and that was his answer.
.
I’m feeling that way all over again with the start of my new business @arielchristineessentials on top of my other responsibilities and our new Love Well podcast we announced yesterday. When I was trying to decide whether to jump right in though, I told my husband I just don’t know why I wouldn’t do it. And he told me “then that is your answer.” Hop on over to my essentials account if you’d like to see how I’m using them daily. I’m doing a class called Motherhood Naturally next week on Facebook and it’s completely free so if you just want to learn a bit more about being the gatekeepers of your homes and get a little help with hormones and emotions like me, I’d love to see you over there so go ahead and message me. Changing my family’s story a little bit every day has been a process. Also, if you missed it in my stories, through Monday, I’m giving a big discount on a premium starter kit, something I use every day. What is something big you’ve faced that you said yes to, but didn’t feel ready?

Beautiful dress by @kindredandkin whose owners are also incredible! Love seeing women supporting women in success! ❤️
