I really enjoyed playing my exam yesterday. Summer is calling with many different projects, can’t wait to start my summer journey with my austrian sax sis @alexandra_pic and to meet all the people in all the different countries. I’m also already really excited to play my final bachelor exam next year ✨ But first it’s time for the @boschparade in the Netherlands

I have a pretty important audition coming so this next week should be a very intense one. The last couple of months I’ve been preparing myself technically and working on my repertoire but this last week will be focussing more on preparing myself mentally and working on performance. • Today I spent lots of time on the 2nd movement of the Ibert and in particular eliminating as much key noise as possible. Wouldn’t want to spoil that lovely tune with some noisy saxophone keys!! • Anyway, as I’ve not uploaded very much recently I’m going to try and put a few more videos out this week with a focus on performance and character. Generally I get the feedback that I’m a bit too intense so special focus is going to be bringing out some lighter aspects of the music I’m playing. So I’m gonna buy a Bari! I’ve been playing baritone in @abeliasaxquartet for nearly 2 years now so it’s definitely time to get my own! I went to @windstruments to try out a ton (8 total) and currently have this second hand selmer series II out on rental! I’m gonna play in quartet with it for a week and then make a decision. If i don’t get this one I’ll be getting either a Yamaha 62 or Yani 991. • • Anyway here’s a wee clip of me playing some quartet parts on the series II. What do you think? Gradually getting my head round the Denisov :) feeling more comfortable with notes so trying to get some more musical ideas and character in there. Proving to be harder than most as this piece is closer to a maths equation than most things I’ve played I’m enjoying though, it’s like a good puzzle.• • Sooo.. • Feedback time I’d love to know what you saxos of insta think :D can be musical or technical but would love to have some feedback no matter if your classical/jazz/pop.
