I've been to Notre-Dame and I'll admit, even as a 15yo zit-covered wiccan-wannabe, I was awed by that building. When it burned down I was sad. Everyone was - you could tell because it was everywhere. Which leaves me wondering - where is Sudan in my news stories? Why were ppl more distraught over the life of a non-living building than of 250+ now non-living people? A building, unlike a life, can be rebuilt - Notre-Dame will be. Within the 1st week post-fire a billionaire stepped forth and pledged $100million euros. Minutes later another doubled him with a $200million euros donation (that's $A314million). Yet the Sudanese are in dire need of water, food, medical assistance and aid in general. While I'm not a billionaire married to a Hollywood actress, I AM a human with a heart who was just *watching* a Hollywood actress. Last night, while white-knuckling it through A Handmaids Tale and thought "Christ, I'm glad that's not me! I'm glad I don't have to be as brave as June" - and then got a shiver this morning when I thought of the people, right now, being as brave as June and fighting a real-life, non-fiction revolution. Two things: ☝if you have EVER dared put yourself in June’s place, dare to put yourself in Sudan’s now. Then donate. Search “Bakri Ali Fundraiser” on Facebook.
