Inizia ufficialmente oggi la mia stagione da “equilibrista”, che non è una passeggiata, ma considero senza dubbio un lusso pensando alla mia vita passata. . Mezza vacanza? Smart Working? Chiamiamolo un po’ come ci pare, il Frecciabianca di oggi ci ha portato in Calabria dove ci aspetta casa, il Nonno, gli amici e i cugini. Per Viola e Giacomo una pacchia, per me davvero uno slalom tra una call, un’altra e decine di post da scrivere, ma sono troppo felice di poterci essere. . Voi cosa ne pensate del lavoro a distanza? Che esperienze avete avuto? . . . Today officially begins my season as an "equilibrist", which is not so easy, but I consider without doubt a luxury, thinking of my past life. . Half vacation? Smart Working? Let's call whatever, the train of today has taken us to the South of Italy, where our home, Grandpa, friends and cousins ​​are waiting for us. For my kids it's a real treat, for me it's really a slalom between a call, another one and dozens of posts to write, but I'm too happy to be there. . What do you think about distance work? In case you didn’t see our video from last night, these past 5 years have been the wildest ride. When jeremy and I first got married, we were on the TIGHTEST budget. The $2 Tuesday’s at our bagel shop were my fav morning of the week, because I could afford to get a bagel AND coffee-and it was a treat! Then jeremy got some amazing jobs, and I worked full time doing skin. We were comfortable. Until jeremy took on the worst job ever doing finance for a home building company. He worked from 6am-10pm M-F. And would travel at least 8 days a month. Having a toddler and being pregnant (with Winston), let’s just say, it wasn’t a glorious time in our lives. Jeremy was also so stressed with this job that he legit started losing his vision in his left eye. After seeing multiple eye doctors, and none of them having answers, we figured it was stress induced So, literally while in the hospital having Winston, we used up some of the money we had saved (that job paid well, but CLEARLY was terrible), and bought a minivan-and decided to leave that job. He told me that he wanted to go work for @gluchgroup, but that I needed to know it would be an adjustment. As in, we could potentially have NO money. No date nights. No extras or non-necessities. No gym memberships. No vacations (and specifically we talked about how we wouldn’t even be able to afford the gas money to drive to flagstaff to stay in a place for free!). BUT, we still said yes. Because no money would be better than a horribly stressed-never around- miserable husband. And God did magic. Within the first 6 months of working this new job, not only was jeremy’s vision 100% back, but also, we were making more money than we ever thought possible from this job. Now, on his 5 year anniversary of working there, here we are. Staying up in a DREAMY home in Flagstaff, for 3 full weeks, BOTH of us working our dream jobs. Moral of the story, God is good. If you are miserable in your job, be wise-but realize there ARE other options out there. We are not meant to be so stressed and miserable, just for a paycheck. Life is too short, and too good, to let it pass you by!

With so many new friends following along, we wanted to take a moment to (re)introduce ourselves. We are Joe and Sallyann, partners in life+business since 2006. We realized how complementary our skill sets were in college and have been working together ever since. We joke that "we're all design, all of the time" but feel incredibly fortunate to have found something we're so passionate about. We're huge book nerds, still make old-school physical mood boards at the start of every project, always sketch first and love to get into long philosophical conversations about history, context, and the meaning behind making. Obsessed with designing for daily lives, our values are strongly rooted in how objects are made, the energy they hold, how simply they work, and how seamlessly they're able to fit into our lives. We're thrilled to be relocating to Pioneer Square at the end of the summer, where we'll talk your ears off about process, craft, and our beautiful curation of US-made wares over a delicious glass of wine. We're loud laughers, big dreamers, and doers that have chosen a route that isn't easy---but sure feels worth it. We can't wait to meet all of you in person and share favorite object/book/food/travel stories. Thanks for following along, and for your ongoing support of our small-but-mighty business.
