Save for later ↗️ & tag someone who has tight traps — Here are 3️⃣ exercises you can two times per week to strengthen the muscles that support & surround your scapula and shoulders. — The point with these exercises are to strengthen your middle & lower traps, rhomboids etc.. to take off some load of the upper traps compensating for lack of strength in the other muscles. In strengthening these muscles (middle/lower traps, serratus anterior, etc) - your upper traps will now have to work and compensate less, because these other muscles are now helping your upper traps do their actual job. — Let’s get it 1️⃣Prone W-Y floor press Lying down prone, lift your chest off the ground. Keep your elbows by your side, and wrist in line with your elbows. Push straight up and forward, hold for a second, and return down to the starting position. Make sure to keep your shoulders away from your ears! (Don’t shrug your traps) 12-14 reps for sets of 2-3. 2️⃣ Standing banded W-Y raises Athletic stance, keeping your shoulders down, wrist in line with elbows, push straight up keeping shoulders down, pause for a second and slowly return to starting position. 12-14 reps of 2-3 sets. 3️⃣ Kneeling High Cable Scapula Retractions select a challenging enough weight, starting with your arms straight and in the top position, let your shoulders shrug towards your ears, and only using your shoulder blades, bring your shoulders back and away from your ears as much as you can, squeeze for a second, and repeat. Perform 12-14 reps of 2-3 sets.
