90/90 Hip Openers . Reposting this one as it’s awesome! . This is one of my all time favourite drills for maintaining hip mobility! The key is to keep the knee of your front leg on the ground. I’m actively pushing it down with my arm To help fix it in position, but this also helps with irradiation and building tension. ➖ I’m also blocking my spine my leaning against the wall as this helps reduce spinal flexion which is one of the most common escapes I see. The pivot point is the toes of the foot, this is a little easier then doing it off the heel. ➖ Remember the goal is to try and isolate the movement of the hip joint, hence all the blocking to fix the position. Slow reps are crucial here and it’s importantly to not aggressively force into any blocks, pain or pinching etc... ➖ If you struggle to sit in this position you can always sit on a yoga block to make things a little easier. What to challenge your glutes like you never have before . Give these end range isometric holds a try. . Exercise 1️⃣ Quadruped abductor lift off. Start on all 4’s and extend leg out to the side. Take a deep breathe and brace abs. Hover leg off the ground for 5 seconds. Repeat 3-5 rounds. Exercise 2️⃣ 90/90 Back knee hinges. Start in a 90/90 position. Hands down for support. Take a deep breathe and brace abs. Hover back leg off the ground. Straighten leg then bend back to 90. Repeat for 3-5 reps. Repeat 3 rounds. Exercise 3️⃣ Collapsed quadruped hip extension lift offs. Start on all 4’s. Collapse down onto your forearms with one hip fully flexed (knee to chest) and the other leg straight. Take a deep breathe and brace abs. Lift back leg off the ground for 5 seconds. Repeat 3-5 rounds. . What’s the point of these exercises?  3 EXERCISES TO STRENGTHEN YOUR HIP FLEXORS  . ➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖➖ We will be choosing one person to work with (for FREE!) and correcting whatever they need to work on (form assessment of their lifts, suggesting exercises, injury prevention, etc). The hip flexors are a group of muscles located in the front of the hip that are responsible for flexing (lifting the knee towards the chest) the hip. Often times people would complain about their hip flexors being "tight", however, in some cases, the hip flexors are in fact weak and fatigue! Strengthening the hip flexors and building more tolerance can help improve the muscles overall work capacity. Instead of constantly stretching the hip flexors, try strengthening them! 1️⃣ Supine Hip Marches: ➡️ Lay on back with legs bent to roughly 90 degrees ➡️ Place mini band around the feet ➡️ Extend one leg downwards while keeping opposing leg straight 2️⃣ Bench Hip Marches: ➡️ Lay on back and place feet on a bench ➡️ Wrap mini band around the feet ➡️ Pull one leg towards the chest while keeping other on bench 3️⃣ Standing Hip Marches ➡️ Stand and hold onto a pole / squat rack with hands ➡️ Place mini band around the feet ➡️ Pull one leg up towards the chest while keeping core engaged .  LEAVE A LIKE AND TAG A FRIEND WITH "TIGHT" HIP FLEXORS!  . #LuStrengthTherapy #HipMobility #MobilityWOD #StrengthAndConditioning #StrengthCoach #StrengthAndConditioningCoach #MobilityTraining
