Did you know that Aussies use more than 5 billion plastic bags a year? Growing up when I pictured myself with children I always just pictured myself with girls I never actually saw myself with boys. Not because I don’t like boys or didn’t want boys I just never saw myself as a “boy mum type”. When I was pregnant with Arlo and we found out he was a boy I was so over the moon to just be having a baby and instantly fell in love with the idea of having a boy. So when Kohen was born and they announced he was a boy again I was over joyed with my newborn baby but it did also make me realise that because he is probably our last baby I might never actually be a Mum to a girl. I absolutely love raising boys, there is just something special about that mother son relationship. But I did worry that I may never have a relationship like that mother daughter one I have with my Mum. But for some people gender disappointment is a real thing, they are dealing with guilt they are even sometimes grieving a loss (a loss of a gender they may never have). People with gender disappointment often feel guilty feeling that way because people think they should just be happy that they are having a baby! But I do also think it’s important that we acknowledge that it is completely ok and normal to feel that way and it is completely ok to be open about it. Being open about it and validating that these feelings are normal is so important. For me now I could never imagine not being a mum to boys it’s what I am now and it’s all I know. I love the fact that I will be parenting a different gender to me and they will be able to show me a world I don’t already know! It doesn’t matter if it’s shades of pink or blue both are equally stunning seen through a mother’s eyes ✨✨✨
