In the 1920s, hems of sheer dresses were usually finished with a picot hem. "Picot edging is simply machine hemstitching cut through the center. It makes a very dainty and yet strong finish for edges of collars, sleeves, tunics, ruffles, sashes etc." (The New Dressmaker, 1921) I'd love to have an antique double needle hemstitching machine - I've been looking for one for years. Мой самый долгий, самый неоднозначный, настоящий «долгошов» . Почти 2 года я его ковыряла. И не то, чтобы сложный, и совсем не скучный, но... эти «пикникеры» никак мне не давались. Слишком мелко и «деталисто» для примитива и слишком «примитивно» и грубо для «пейзажа». (ИМХО) А шовчиковые и мережковые вставки , шились с удовольствием.
