I printed out my quote posters at OfficeMax and they turned out fantastic! I chose Glossy Text Premium White Cardstock 100lb paper to print them on and they are thick and definitely don’t need to be laminated. I’m pretty sure I first saw this idea on @fantasticallyfourth’s page and instantly knew it needed to land in room 30, too. Colored ping pong balls from Amazon and a fishbowl from Michaels were purchased and I just used a Sharpie to number the balls. Instead of sticks or a number generator, I reach in and grab a ball, which correlates to a student. There’s something about it that makes it feel like a game and they get SO excited to see if their number is picked. I did type up their names and numbers because let’s be honest, I can’t always remember ALL 33.

My last picture in my 5th grade classroom. Y’all, I had the BEST time teaching for six years in this room. The decision to change grades was so hard, but I am ready for a change! I love to change things up and do something, and teaching second grade will definitely be different! I’m sad about leaving my 5th grade kids and my wonderful coworkers who were SO great to work with, but I’m so excited about this new year! And get ready... my new name will be coming in FOUR days! As August creeps closer, my anxiety creeps in as well. I’m such a visual person, so I make a giant to-do list on my whiteboard and cross off as I go. Don’t you worry, hanging my norms frame that fell down 7,487 times last year is on my list. Oh, and one more thing. If you zoom in, I’m positive you’ll find spelling errors. Hi. Teaching is hard. . Sometimes you cry. A lot... . Sometimes you wake up with a headache, go to work with a headache and fall asleep with it too... sometimes it doesn’t go away. . You lose sleep over stress about your job or your students. . Now you may be wondering why I’m telling you all of this. Janelle this is not new information. Well you see, I’m kind of tired of people preying on teachers. We’ve ALL had hard days. People with 100 all the way to 100k followers have had a bad day! . Please know you’re not alone in that area. Please don’t listen to people who just throw your insecurities and the hard parts of our job in your face. . . No one in college told us teaching would be easy... pretty sure we all knew that. But I’m asking you to remember why you started teaching. . . You had dreams, goals, visions for a better world. You wanted to change the lives of your students. That kind of stuff inspires me. . . Seeing all the amazing things people in this teachergram community are doing... seeing their love for this job, watching them share real life struggles... that inspires me. . . So next time you see someone who takes your weaknesses, throws them in your face, makes you feel bad, makes you question your career choice... do me a favor and unfollow them.
