Instead of asking will it sell? Ask how quickly will it sell and how much will it sell for? One of the dangers of sourcing is picking up items just because they're cheap. I used to do this a lot, especially in the beginning when I was only sourcing at $0.75 sales and fill a bag sales, but those items translate into time. Time photographing, time listing, time sharing, and that time often takes away time from sourcing, listing, and sharing more profitable items. If I only have time to list 100 items per week, I need to make them excellent items with higher ROI rather than crappy items that may or may not ever sell. I've been trying to focus more time on picking up higher quality items that I KNOW will sell and will sell quickly. I still make a lot of sourcing mistakes but the return on my time and investment is growing. Have you fallen into this trap before? What's your best advice for staying out of it?

I want to mention why I keep doing this Monat thing. If you’re already sick of hearing me talk about it, then I encourage you to just pass over this. Because we all have a “why” and I’m going to be real with you all! Anyone who knows me well, knows that I’m the least likely person to join a direct sales opportunity. But! a few years ago, I decided to leave a growing corporate career that took its toll on me. I felt lost, irrelevant, insignificant, and broken. Soon thereafter, we happily found out we were expecting our first child and moved to a new town. A lot of big (but welcomed) changes at once!⁣ •⁣ I started using Monat 7 months ago after basically stalking someone on Instagram and watching her hair completely change and I desperately needed help with my postpartum hair loss and extreme dryness. I went through the whole “detox” and transformation and kept pushing through. A few months in, I introduced the Black 2 in 1 into my routine and I had hair growing back incredibly fast and my thickness and strength returned. I was blown away. I started sharing how my hair was changing with Monat as I’m genuinely just super PUMPED about it! When you find something so good and it’s transforming the industry, you gotta tell people about it, right?!⁣ •⁣ I had been praying for a long time that an opportunity would present itself that I genuinely had fun doing, would help my family and allow me to still be present Colette and future children, AND especially something where others would be immensely helped too and their lives changed. I also prayed to be content regardless of what would come from it- to intentionally practice gratitude.⁣ •⁣ We are on a debt-free journey and actively working to eliminate student loan burden and Monat has tremendously helped our little family. And not just financially because I’ve met a wonderful community and have great hair, ha! Listed: 237 items Sold: 138 items Profit: $1770.77 My profit was slightly lower than last month but I'm still happy with it overall since we were extra busy this month with finals and whatnot. Now that it's summer though, my two main focuses for this month will be: 1. List 400 items 2. Source higher quality items Essentially I want to replace all the crappy inventory I've bought with stuff that will sell for more. When I first started I didn't have much to invest and I couldn't travel very far to thrift, so most of the items I bought cost me between $0.25 and $0.75 and had small profit margins. Now, though, I'm making enough consistently to replace those lower end items with things I might have to pay a bit more for but that will bring in more profit. I can also travel father now and more often to nicer thrift stores (I live in a small town that doesn't even have a mall, lol). What are your goals for this month? Are you a bulk seller, do you have a more curated collection with higher profits, or do you do both?
