Firstly, sorry for not being active this week but my wife & I are going through a complete nightmare with a bullying demanding builder who has walked off our job & left a complete mess so we’ve been very very stressed trying to sort it out hopefully I’ll be back soon but it’s a bad time we are going though . That said here’s a nice wine we had a few weeks ago . This wine got me hooked on Napa & I’ve loved it ever since I got my 07s @ £40 & what a bargain when I try them now but getting past their peak I’d say . Stags Leap Wine Cellars Artemis 2007 . 93+ points but I’d have given 95-96 a few years ago hence sone wines are better younger . Cabernet Sauvignon . Opaque deep ruby . Smokey oak & charred soot embers through mashed black currant & dark plum in rock minerals w/ mocha & earthy liquorice tones . Med body of creamy smooth black currant & red berry fruit undertones I slight dry minerals w/ a plummy backbone bathed in cocoa cream & light red liquorice . Med+ earthy mineral infused dark plummy fruit touch dry mocha linger

The 2nd wine of Vega Sicilia Unico never disappoints & this 2010 @ c£100 is delish Apologies for being away a few days but I’m fighting infections I have from bug bites with no immune system but this helps . Vega Sicilia "Valbuena" 2010 . 94-95 points w/ a little more potential . 95% Tempranillo & 5% Merlot . Deep dark opaque brooding blackened ruby . Deep rich dark cherry smothered in chocolate w/ minerals, red fruits, smoke, balsamic, herbs, damson & soggy earth . Med+ body of creamy smooth dark cherry in cocoa, balsamic, plump plum & red liquorice tones . Long dark plump fruity silky explosion of creamy yummy dark cherry, cocoa, balsamic, plum & oozyness

A new Italian white for me & wow what a find I’m definitely getting more of this as it’s just superb @ £54 - it’s definitely worth it as a treat I found @slurpleamington @slurpwine . Livio Felluga Terre Alte 2015 . 94 points - I just ordered more . 40% Sauvignon Blanc; 30% Friulano; 30% Pinot Blanc/Pinot Bianco . Straw yellow w/ golden lime hue . An elegant burst of soft citrus & tropical fruits showcasing lime, melon & peach into vanilla cream, lemongrass, gooseberry, white blossom & rock minerals w/ pineapple & apricot sneaking through . Med crisp clean fresh body of quite gorgeously balanced smooth lime & tropical fruits w/ a light minerality impeccably balanced . A long fab lime & tropical fruit slight mineral & lime dry yet slight sweet and harmonious linger with melon, peach & lime bouncing all over your wineglugger hole

Yep Mrs E demanded another the 09 Sass (11th try I feel spoilt ) @ £138-£180 just keeps improving but only if Mrs E stops opening them Notes similar as before but oak & blackberry is coming through much more now When your down wine is good, when you’re really down, really good wine is great . I’m a huge Grande Annee fan & have been bursting to try the new 08 @ £90-£115 (more than normal!) in a cool new box & new bottle shape. We tested side by side to the fab Dom Perignon 08 & on its own. Net is buy this beauty if you like Bollys heavier oxidative style Buy buy buy I personally think it’s the best Grande Annee I’ve had . Bollinger Grande Annee 2008 . 98 points & having had the 1996 it could be a in time, especially the RD I have no doubt this will be epic Grande Annee on steroids! . 71% Pinot Noir & 29% Chardonnay . Golden straw yellow . Apple compote on almond baked croissant, butter brioche & covered in honey w/ charred citrus zests, minerals, white flowers, caramel sauce & soft smoked oak . Fine bubbled med body silky deluxe creamy buttery mousse of baked green caramel apple in honey, dry rock mineral & charred citrus flesh in med acidity - lovely balance .
