Library Collection: “I Yam A Donkey” Grammar Cube! This silly little book was endlessly quoted around my house while I was brainstorming and working on my donkey peg dolls. I just couldn’t let the basic grammar lessons out of my head, and realized I wanted to make something featuring them! “I am.” “You are.” “He is.” “She is.” “They are.” “We are.” It wasn’t log before I realized I had a cube on my hands! .. It’s a little project like this that makes me happy I have some random wooden shapes laying around! I’m prepared when an idea strikes! .. I had to push through the thought that I could easily take a teacher’s resource I found online and quickly decoupage it instead of painstakingly painting it. But once it started taking shape, I was so excited I was making the effort! I really wanted to do a peggie for Black History Month, so I chose “Ron’s Big Mission”—which was featured by the library as a monthly selection. It’s a story about a young man who loved to learn and read... and wanted the ability/right to check books out of the library. He persevered and was granted a library card! .. Amelia Bedelia! The first in my library collection! . .. .. My goal for the year is to paint peg ornaments as a surprise for our local library with characters from the books they’ve chosen for special activities and celebrations for their preschool storytime.
