This kind of book is definitely one of our favorites — it’s a window to life around the globe. We see what a day is like for kids in over 40 countries — waking up, going to bed and everything in between. It’s hard to pick a favorite page spread but seeing the variety of food kids eat around the world is pretty intriguing for us. We could definitely get on board with pho for breakfast. Growing up, one of our favorite breakfasts was tocino and garlic rice. We’d love to hear what you have each morning. . It’s a great one to pair with kids’ first cooking experiences, with opportunities to talk about the sequencing of a recipe and the rich language associated with food (all those adjectives, verbs, ingredient names, colors, textures). It also provides concrete and experiential math (quantity, measuring and fractions) and science (reactions, cause and effect). Our strangely and unexpectedly favorite part of this book is the squishy textured dough, which Lotta Nieminen and the Phaidon team executed pretty brilliantly. .
