I've been doing a lot of #bloodglucose testing lately with a continuous blood glucose monitor called #FreestyleLibre. See that first spike this morning in the photo above? That's what happens when you drink a cup of coffee. I drink @Kion coffee (link in bio). That's not a *bad* thing per se, but that is one of the ways coffee gives you #energy - it causes your liver to break down a bunch of stored #glycogen then shoves it into your body to use as energy. Interestingly, you can still be in #ketosis just fine when this happens. There's your fun #coffee fact for the day. ⁣ ⁣ The second spike in the photo above? My morning exercise session, which was a fasted 30-minute bike ride with a few #intervals thrown in. #Exercise does the *same thing* as the coffee - causes mobilization of glycogen for energy. That's your second #funfact for the day. By the way, in addition to spiking your blood glucose, your body makes most of its own #cholesterol too, rather than getting it from food. I get plenty of questions about this @whoop wristband, which, especially for folks who don’t like a ring or who want a wrist option, is one of the better self-quant devices in my opinion. Monitoring #recovery is one main thing that sets WHOOP apart from many other #wearables. Recovery is basically how well prepared the WHOOP predicts your body is for taking on more #strain. By taking three key metrics during your sleep each night– heart rate variability (HRV), resting heart rate (#RHR), and quality of #sleep, #WHOOP calculates and gives you your recovery level each morning. Amazing. How many people have called you extreme? More like extremely natural! ;) Imho a big part of Biohacking is using technology to mimic a natural environment, in an u natural world. When you can’t practice with your body you can always practice with your mind.⁣ ⁣ It’s even more powerful than the physical.⁣ ⁣ My first teacher had a brain tumor and when he was recovering from surgery, he could not speak or move. He practiced everything in his mind. Chanting into areas of his brain with sound and light. ⁣ ⁣ As I sit here in an emergency room (treating a potential e-coli situation) and there is chaos all around. I am restfully at peace within myself. ⁣ ⁣ ⁣

It’s been rough and rocky traveling but I am standing strong. I do not think that diabetes makes me sick but informs my decisions to how I choose to take extra special care. ⁣ ⁣ I didn’t have to go to the hospital twice but I chose to because there are no risks with DKA.
