As a teenager, she was my enemy.⠀ As an adult, she’s my best friend.⠀ ⠀ She’s the one I call for a vent, the one I turn to for advice & the one I ring to get the nod of approval on expired dairy products ⠀ ⠀ She may call me by my siblings names, take 4 months to respond to a text & use toothpicks like in 1977 but I bloody love her. I become overwhelmed with the thought of how much I love my mum! ⠀ ⠀ As a mum myself now, I feel like I finally understand things I could never comprehend growing up. It makes me think about the mum I am today. Wanting to give my kids the world, yet protect them from what it can bare. I’ve learnt that it’s the little things that have the biggest impact. Happy Mother’s Day beautiful Mamas. Today I was shocked to hear in my insta stories of so many FIFO wives out there spending Mother’s Day without their partners and I just want to send a big I UNDERSTAND!!! I know it’s not just the husbands responsibility to make Mother’s Day special haha but it surely does help doesn’t it. This is my 5th Mother’s Day and it’s the 5th Mother’s Day Tony has been away. I will admit I had a downer moment this morning of feeling sorry for myself and wishing Tony could be here, But I smashed out some tunes on the drive up to Montville, spent the morning with my Mum and then me and the boys went and got pies from the bakery. Whilst sitting and eating our pies I overheard a lady at the counter who was buying lunch for her and her son say “well At least this year he remembered” she proceeded to talk about her son and by the sounds of things he isn’t as abled as most. My heart broke and I just had to do something. So I walked up to the counter and asked to pay for her and her sons lunch. In shock she said “but why” And all I said was “because it’s Mother’s Day and I want to” she was so beautiful and honestly MY Mother’s Day was made by seeing this lady so happy.
