I know most of you guys are sick of my raw feeding posts....but this is about 48lbs of food that will last around 37 days for my dogs! (About 80lbs in total of dog weight) it was $90 for all of it. I have gotten away with spending less per month- $60 at the least. This doesn’t include supplements but that differs from dog to dog. It is such a misconception that raw is expensive. So what happens after you tell your vet that you feed your pet raw food? Perhaps your vet supports raw. But just in case you’ve never encountered this experience yet, its always best to be prepared. Incredibly vets are widely uneducated about human-grade, balanced raw diets. You’d be surprised at the emails and phone calls we have encountered from customers after visiting their vet! So this post is to prepare you for this “experience” . Here this here’s an an (edited) version of an email we got this week from customer after a visit to their vet. This is a real customer... and this anti-raw rhetoric is real too . “Our vet was against our decision but we felt after asking you some questions and others that our decision to feed raw was the best. Today our vet did blood work and said her creatinine levels are on the high side and she suspects that it’s because she has too much protein in her raw diet.  She said that high levels can lead to coronary problems in the future. “ MYTH: Studies completed by the Veterinary community in the US and UK have proven that raw red dogs have a different blood test result than kibble fed dogs. This is NORMAL - incredibly the vet community is still NOT aware of this . https://www.dogsnaturallymagazine.com/normal-blood-values-and-raw-fed-dogs/ . . She said that raw diet is relatively new and we are just starting to see the long term effects such as heart disease. “ MYTH: WOW!! That’s a big one . This vet is actually saying that raw diets are NEW when its actually kibble or processed foods that have been introduced less than 60 years ago. Also the allegation that raw can cause DCM. They said the only way she can get a balanced diet is with kibble. She said she needs more carbohydrates and we should feed her rice and noodles, wheat and corn.
