I hated the idea of throwing away the 118 year old siding. Luckily I found a way to reuse it on the porch ceiling. . What may look like a simple task turned into a 3 day struggle to bend warped boards and climb up and down ladders 100 times (or more). . She’s got legs! And she knows how to use them... (Name that song!) Hint: . Today Etta got her legs back. Or should I say her pretty legs. The stone masons put veneer stone where the piers would have been. . I imagine the surprise on the inspector’s face when he/she goes into the crawlspace and realizes they aren’t original. . I heard something super sad y'all. The new owners of the #savingetta house told me the developer next door cut down all the trees between the two properties. I'm beyond sad. I had talked to him about leaving the trees as a buffer to give more privacy to each backyard. To have more shade for the hot summer days. And to keep this peaceful oasis near downtown #Raleigh. I though he agreed with me. But, a few months after I sold the house he went ahead and did it anyway. I rationalized his decision thinking he might put in a driveway all the way to the back of the house. ⁣ ⁣ I drove by the house yesterday and just shook my head as I saw the short concrete driveway that stopped at the front of the house. The clear cutting was unnecessary and frankly just plain stupid. Honored to get a private tour of this historic house in Raleigh, NC. The William Graves house is slated to be moved to save it from an Oberlin Road widening project. Until moving day, the house is being shored up and essentially reframed to keep it in one piece during the move. .
