Yesterday I put his leash on and sat in the hotel courtyard so he could enjoy the sunshine like he does in the Catio. He really enjoyed that so much that he cried at the door after we came in. LONG POST! Hi all, C and A’s mom here. This has been a difficult week for Connor and I wanted to share so you’d know why you may not see new photos of him for a bit. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ As many of you know Connor suffers from seizures and Tuesday night he began seizing and wouldn’t stop. We went to the ER, got them under control (we thought) with a follow up to be done at my vet Wednesday am. Well about an hour after we got home he had another seizure and proceeded to have one every 45 minutes, give or take, until I got him to the vet in the am. To say it was terrifying is an understatement, I feared he wasn’t going to make it through, I was so scared. My vet hospitalized him for the day with IV fluids and Valium to stop the seizures, which worked for the most part. I took him home with a catheter in place and Valium to give via IV if he started up again. He had a couple minor focal seizures after we got home, so I did give him a dose and after about 10pm he didn’t have any more. His recovery is difficult because he had so many seizures in a short period of time, cluster seizures. As is often the case, he lost his vision from the seizures but it seems to be very slowly returning. He’s eating and drinking, today from his bowls and not by hand, which is great. He’s walking outside to potty and trying to lift his leg, today he’s finally sniffing the grass and coming back around to normal behavior, but it is very slow. I anticipate it will be a few weeks before he’s back to himself. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ He’s continuing his current meds and started another, Zonisamide. Tomorrow we will be receiving some homeopathic meds to use in conjunction with his medication, it has wonderful reviews so I have high hopes for it. Melatonin has also been helping him get through this post seizure phase. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ I will do anything I can do to make sure he is okay, full time nursing, hand feeding, anything, I just want him to be back to his old self and never experience this again! So for now, we will be posting Angus and probably older pictures of Connor until he’s back to feeling photo ready, and he will get back there, just going to take a little time. The number 1 question I get asked is how does a blindcat know where it’s litter box is? I showed him where it was the minute we got to our hotel room and he used it about 15 minutes later. Donny was an amazing traveler he hardly made a sound the entire plane ride. We left our house around 5am and got to our hotel room about 10 hours later. He ate and drank right away and did a much needed pee. I think he handled the long trip better than me. PRAYERS NEEDED PLEASE Hero was admitted to Red Bank this morning by Dr Glass due to seizures that started on Saturday, but by today were increasing in frequency and severity. We were in contact with our neuro team all weekend and were watching Hero closely and documenting all activity. By late yesterday afternoon, our level of concern was heightened and after speaking with our team in the evening, we all agreed that Hero needed to be seen. This morning Hero just wasn’t behaving normally and right before leaving for RBVH, had another fairly significant seizure. When we got down to Red Bank, he was in a postictal state and we could see he wasn’t feeling well at all. Dr Glass examined him and recommended an MRI be done ASAP, to make sure there isn’t a problem with his shunt or worse, another complication on the left side of his brain where he performed brain surgery to stop the subdural hemorrhage last year. I spoke with one of our neurologists a while ago and Hero is stable thankfully, and he had perked up a little bit. The plan as of now, is to do the MRI first thing tomorrow morning, then we will meet with them to go over the MRI’s findings. We desperately need your help! In the past couple months we have had expenses exceeding $10,000, a lot of which were financial aide grants that we awarded to numerous kittens who were experiencing life threatening crises!
