: When you experience mental or chronic health issues, you tend to find ways to cope with the symptoms. You might find some positive coping mechanisms like yoga or meditation or you could do the opposite and do negative things that help you escape the world: over eating,drinking and doing hard drugs. I am a binge eater because it makes me feel better emotionally when I am eating. However this is terrible for my overall body and health and typically makes my pain worse. A way to break this habit (yes it’s easier said then done) is that when you are about to engage in a negative coping mechanism you ask yourself is this drink, food, drug or whatever you do, helping you achieve the life that you want for yourself. I would sleep for over 10 hours at times and still wake up feeling terrible.⠀ ⠀ Luckily, I'm in remission now so I'm able to do the things on the right of this chart. One day I woke up and my eye was red & swollen. Then IT GREW and took over my face. Cellulitis, Food Allergies, Flesh eating bacteria, we ran through everything it might be but it kept getting WORSE. Try walking around with THAT FACE for a year! It ended up being the rare autoimmune disease #Dermatomyositis with a side of lung disease and Bell’s palsy. Then things got REALLY BAD. I ended up not dying (it got close) but couldn’t walk, couldn’t breathe, and the doctors said there’s no cure. After feeling sorry for myself, and taking ALL the immunosuppressants & prednisone - I decided to go full on #AIPdiet and things really started to turn around. Talk about healing! Talk about not feeling ill all the time! Talk about my rheumatologist being surprised and amazed at my recovery! That’s what happened.
