10 years clean today !!! .... I was addicted to METH, and anything that got me HIGH for 10 years .. started as a weekend thing and turned into a habit. It was no longer fun , I needed it to sleep. I've crashed cars, lost jobs, burned bridges and messed up relationships. I just couldn't stay clean untill April 10 ,2009 I gave my life to the Lord. Less than 30 days later my past caught up to me and I went to prison for 7 years. Had to repost this not because it's the rosey, light "double tap" post we usually like to post but because it's real. Wow. 3 days after getting out of treatment. Thank you. #Repost @addicted__to__recovery ・・・ TBT- to a time in my life I don't ever want to go back to, the day after I relapsed on benzos and got into a car accident by hitting a sign, head on. . This & a fractured spine, I'm lucky it didn't decapitate me. . Yes, this is what drugs can do to you. It's not a proud moment, but it's a real moment, it CAN happen to you. Never say NEVER.I had just gotten out of rehab three days prior, I thought I was losing my mind. For me.. my body- physically and mentally..30 days was not enough time. My intuition and body was telling me to stay, but I wanted to go home, I had missed my family. I wanted to be supermom, and wife. The end result? After my back & spinal fusion surgery, I was immediately transported straight to jail, as I laid there in a cold jail cell block, on a thin mat, I was served every paper you can think of for the next month. I literally had my world turned upside down, everything.. I mean EVERYTHING was swiped out from underneath me. I'm still fighting to get it back. Please don't let this happen to you. HELP is available and people do love you, your life is important; God has a purpose for you. It may not seem like it now while your stuck in self destructing mode.. but once you remove this substances, and work on your shame and guilt through recovery youre on your way to your BEST life. I didn't know RECOVERY existed... I was so hopeless. I have now met so many people that had a rough time internally like I did, and relate to me, don't judge me on my past, and I didn't think that was possible. I felt so alone, I never felt understood. Reach out, I'm not proud of what happened.. I'm grateful and blessed by Gods given grace to have found recovery. Sober & Solo✌️ . .This is my third sober trip to Ibiza and this time I’m riding solo ‍♀️ . .Ibiza is my soul place but also the place I got loose and totally wild for 9 years. Until last year of course when it became a different story . .Being here sober is actually quite magical and I had some of my best times last year when I did a hen do and 30th Birthday . .Being here by myself though has been quite triggering. Not being able to have the welcome drink on arrival,not being able to smash the bottomless champagne at breakfast in the sun or have a drink at my friends wedding tomorrow all seems a bit unfair . .Im writing this because it’s important to be honest about sobriety with all its ups and downs. Being sober is the most amazing choice I have ever made but it doesn’t always make it the easiest one . .Im grateful for this time by myself to reflect and really sit with myself and really appreciate how far I have come. I feel grateful I will be fully present for my friend getting married tomorrow, to have real conversations with people (and remember them) and to wake up and enjoy the sun☀️ . .Just know if you find it tough sometimes these are just fleeting moments and they pass . .Hope you like my selfie? I've made some pretty big changes in my life. First I have stayed sober for 113 days as of right now and still plan to stay sober for a very long time. My biggest downfall was drinking too many craft beers and gained much weight because of it. Second I went mostly vegetarian and eat vegan snacks in between meals. I plan to be vegetarian full time by the end of the week. As a result I have lost 33 pounds (14.96kg). My goal is to lose another 23 pounds (10.43kg) by April. 6 months sober. Over the past six years I’ve tried to get sober numerous times. Never before have I made it to six months. At some point on this journey I went to An alcohol dependency centre, I have no idea when. Maybe four years ago. Last month someone recognised me and asked me how I was doing and to feel pride where shame once sat was a beautiful feeling Mother’s Day is always challenging, I lost my mum in 2011 due to her own alcohol dependency.
