Let's get this #saturdaynight officially started with this fantastic #supertuscan ! Cabreo from @folonaritenute is a blend of #sangiovese & #cabernetsauvignon from the Greve in Chianti hills. It ages 16-18 months in oak barrels + 6 months in the bottle. This vintage 2013 had a beautiful ruby red colour that conquered us! At the nose aromas of baked plum, espresso, and baking spice. The robust palate opens with black fruit, chocolate and licorice alongside gripping tannins. Long & quite alcoholic finish! 2005 Corton-Charlemagne @maisonjosephdrouhin . . Originally from the Yonne department, Joseph Drouhin founded the négociant company which bears his name in 1880. His son Maurice took over in 1918, buying the first vineyards including the famous Beaune Clos des Mouches. It took him a while to put this together, since he had to buy the plots piecemeal from many different owners. Maurice Drouhin was a significant personality in Beaune, sitting on the INAO committee and acting as deputy administrator of the Hospices de Beaune, including during the troubled period of World War II. He also had distribution rights for a good proportion of Domaine de la Romanée Conti’s production, though unfortunately was not able to take up the offer to buy the share of the business which subsequently went to Leroy.

Is it rosé season yet? Of course it is! every season is rosé season. Are we done denying its true value yet? Can everyone enjoy the freshness and pleasure of a cool glass without being judged, from the manliest of man to the fully girly lady. And vice versa. I feel like we're good to go, right? It's fantastic, you should drink more. I like to start my rosé season when the new vintage of Whispering angel get in. It's always one of the very first to arrive on our shelves and always incredibly satisfying.

This 2016 has received excellent reviews and is a great preview of his "big brother" Sassicaia. Dark cherry and blackberry at the nose and then spice, tar, leather and sweet fruit at the end. Full-bodied, extremely refined and polished. the only problem? We opened this bottle way to early! Alert, fight against frost. Hélas, yet another episode of sleepless weekend for wine producers in France: Alsace Bourgogne Bordeaux Champagne Cognac Jura Loire ... The last alert was on the 13th till 15th of April 2019. Am still waiting a full report from the previous frost. Hoping that this round all turns well. We’ll know more in the coming weeks. I wish them courage and strength through these challenging times.
