Rubber band bracelets Most days after camp Lennon asks me if he can play video games at home. But on Monday he asked me if we could make rubber band bracelets! So I dropped everything I was doing and said yes, even though I had no clue on how to make them. He told me you could do it with your fingers and that it was so easy! ✌ A quick google search and I found a tutorial from @honestlywtf which is how Lennon was trying to explain me. - If you have fat fingers like me, you can use a pair of pencils! ✏️✏️ - How to: 1️⃣ You start by twisting a rubber band into an infinity shape and then stacking two more on top. 2️⃣ Pull the bottom band on top of the band from each side. 3️⃣ Add another band on top and repeat step 2. * There should always be three bands on your fingers at a time and the bottom band is always pulled over the top band * 4️⃣ Once you’ve reached the desired length you can close the loops with a jump ring. You can also use a string and tie the ends. - Lennon helped me film a quick video for y’all! Swipe a couple times left to see it! •Stone Matching Game• You guys, we have a growing collection of lake rocks❤️ We don’t take many when we visit, but we visit OFTEN! Usually I let my boys take 2 specials rocks, one in each hand. ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• So this morning I made a learning invitation for my four year old His challenge was to match each stone to it’s outline. Here’s what I did: 1️⃣ I channeled my inner @dayswithgrey and got out my large roll of white paper. 2️⃣ I outlined the rocks. I chose a wide variety of sizes and shapes to make it easier to find the match. First I outlined the rocks with pen and then I used a sharpie (I don’t want to mark up these beauties ) 3️⃣ I modeled the process for Leo. I used vocabulary like “long, round, curvy, straight” to describe the stones. 4️⃣ Leo had his turn! You can see this in my stories! Reading about Hezekiah letting his pride get in the way of being a servant of God made me realize that I, also, struggle with my pride. . Sometimes our pride gets so present..that we can't even see it. It blinds us. . We become so invested in pleasing others, impressing man. We forget that we are living for our eternal lives. . We are living to please God. We live to impress Him. It's so easy to want to take the credit for our lives, or objects in our lives. It's so easy to want to show off what we have to others. When none of this matters to God. We let ourselves become distracted and blinded from our ultimate goal. . I'm thankful for reminders when I'm distracting myself. UNICORN POOP // Are your kiddos using words like “poo poo, pee pee” all day long? ‍♀️ We do our best to use those words in the bathroom only , but, I must admit, we made a one-time exception while making this unicorn poop slime. Drop them ⬇️ in the comment section below! - It’s definitely worth mentioning that even though unicorns (apparently) poop rainbows , after being played with for all of 5 seconds, it quickly turns to the color of, well, regular old poop. Minnoslarima oyunnn thanks begenmeyi ve kaydetmeyi unutmayinn FRUITY Q-TIPS We wander around the garden every day to check on progress and my 2yo always stops and points saying “red strawberries” ...and then picks a few (berries and often plants ). • Since he has “red strawberries” down pat I made this cute little colour sorting and posting activity with a few other fruits for some colour and fine motor practice. • I love an activity like this one because aside from some great colour and fine motor practice for my 2yr old, it will be used even more by my 4yo. Where my 6yo daughter can easily transition from wild outdoor play to quiet indoor play, my son has a lot more trouble. Something like this keeps his hands busy and really calms his mind. PAINT LIKE POLLOCK // This is what complete and utter freedom to paint looks like. The set up is simple — a tray of paints, and a tray of paint tools (think industrial brushes and random household objects like a funnel, measuring cups, a spatula, and ladle). At first my kiddos didn’t know what to do, ‍♂️‍♂️ but when I told them they could fling the paint across the yard for all I cared, they just went totally wild! Is this messy? Yes. Will the kids get paint on them from head to toe? Mine sure did! So is it worth the clean up? We sure think so! My kiddos had the absolute best time expressing themselves and experimenting with how paint moves (or flies ). Plus, I dunked them in the pool afterwards and we were as good as new! POOL NOODLE TENNIS RACKETS // Oh my gosh guys — look at these pool noodles turned tennis rackets! This might be one of my favorite pool noodle hacks ever (a Pinterest find!). All you need is a pool noodle, recycled plastic netting (like the ones you get with bulk fruit/veggie buys!) ♻️, and tape. Swipe ↔️ to see the rackets in action, and read on below ⬇️ for the instructions. - INSTRUCTIONS (1) Slice off a 6 inch half from the ends of a pool noodle (I repeat, just a half — don’t cut the whole bottom!), so that when you bring the ends together it makes a thin racket handle. (2) Tape the handle together (we used gorilla tape). (3) Slip the plastic netting over the loop. We used the netting from bulk bags of avocados.
