DIY Play Silks. If you love play silks but like me find they aren’t in your budget, this is how I dyed some at home. Enjoy! I bought 12 silks and for now have dyed 6, the generic colours of the rainbow. I hope to dye the rest with Alfred when he’s older using homemade natural dyes. This is what you will need and the mixture of food colouring I used for each. • 6 x 8mm 30x30” Habotai Silk Scarves (approx 76cm) but choose whatever size you like - I bought mine online from Dharma Trading • Vinegar • Food Colouring • Gentle soap • Large pot, large bowl, measuring cup For the colours, you could experiment with what you have, I used: • Red (35R, 7O, 5C) • Orange (18O, 12Y, 3R) • Yellow (35Y, 2O) • Green (15Y, 3B) • Blue (40B) • Purple (14R, 4B) C = Crimson but you don’t necessarily need it as I’ve seen other recipes that don’t use it.
