MISSING LETTERS ✏️• I love this one for my big (almost) kindergartner! First, I rolled out a sheet of paper, collected some toys around the house, and wrote out each object word on the page with letter(s) missing from each. My 5 yos job was then to complete the spelling for each word by sounding it out and filling in the missing letter. Who would have thought some chickpeas could bring so much joy?! I love to add a simple sensory element to our small world play and I’m often inspecting things in the soup aisle when we do our groceries. By adding some chickpeas to our construction set, I was able to bring life back to an older toy they hadn’t been played with for quite some time. If you have a toy in your home that isn’t getting much love, see if you can think of a new way to present it to your little learners. Sometimes the most simple change like putting it on a tray with some related props or adding it to a small world can bring life back to an otherwise unloved toy. And if that doesn’t work? Rehome and declutter

Space sensory tray...black beans with little planets and string to show their orbit paths. I thought Arlo would love this because he is loving anything about space at the moment but he had a good look at the book, told me what all the planets were, scooped the beans then said he was done! ⁣ ⁣ Theo on the other hand woke from his nap and excitedly played with the set up, scooping and pouring the beans and chatting about the planets and the sun. ⁣ He even pulled a classic Theo and ate some of the beans-he just can’t resist black beans!! ⁣ IMPORTANT NOTICE-Dry beans actually contain a toxin that can cause food poisoning, even just a few beans can make you sick. PEBBLE NUMBER MATCH . I think I may be addicted to painting pebbles! These are a set I made on our recent beach holiday in Cornwall. . For this activity I simply hid them in some rice and Miss 3 matched the numbers to the sets of objects by counting them carefully. She’s really only just getting the hang of numbers 1-5 but older sis helped with the others! . I was so glad we packed our posca pens for our holiday. They were a total life saver for down time after the beach and rainy days! . Our fireworks in a jar experiment! It was so easy to do and it worked so well. We got the idea from the National Science Week resource. All you need is water, oil and food colouring. Half fill a container with water and then in a seperate container mix some of the food colouring into the oil. Mix the oil really well to break up the food colouring into very small drops. Then slowly tip the oil into the container with water. • WEEKLY DAY TRACKER • “What day is it today mum?” Is a question I’ve been hearing a lot of lately, mostly because the girls always want to know what day Nana is coming over . So I’ve been meaning to make this day-tracker for a while, but finally got around to it!! . The arrow moves along the days so that the girls can change it themselves, it’s a simple way for them to be able to keep track of and become familiar with the days of the week! . I used a piece of thick cardboard and cut a slot down the left side with some sharp scissors. I made notches next to each day for the arrow to ‘sit’ in so it doesn’t slide around. I cut the arrow out of cardboard and hot glued a popstick into the back of it. I cut the popstick so it doesn’t stick out at the back, and then I hot glued one of the pieces I’d cut to the bottom of the arrow-popstick, so that it doesn’t fall out of the cardboard. I decorated it and it was all done ☺️ . If you check my stories I’ll show the arrow-popstick situation so that it’s easier to see in case you want to make your own! .
