You don’t have to fight your body. Our default state doesn’t have to be at war with ourselves! I know that with diabetes, it feels like a fight. Constantly chasing those highs and lows, asking it to do one thing and it does another, changing your diet, your movement, your LIFE - and still having your efforts thrown back in your face. Same with your physical body...who else pokes and prods their body as much as we do?! Sometimes I feel like all I do is inflict pain and discomfort upon myself. A finger prick here, a site change there - it adds up every day and has you feeling a little worse for wear. Let’s not even start with the horrible thoughts we can have towards our body...we might have a great diabetes day but end up fixated on a stomach roll or patch of cellulite. We can’t control diabetes. But you know what we CAN control? Our attitude toward our body. Instead of being at war with it’s fluctuations and frustrations, we can accept it and move on. My body doesn’t work too well...but it puts up with so many injections, pinches, and roller coaster days that I think it deserves a little bit of love, don’t you?

New Job Update! ‍ ▫️ So, I already have 60+ days at my new job, and I can tell you that being surrounded by the right people makes a BIG difference. ▫️ I feel comfortable enough to do MDI's at my desk without hiding, to wear my devices in totally visible sites, and that's not it, HR department even asked my what should they know in case of emergency, I explained everything and then when I had a meeting with my department I explained voluntarily since they are the ones closer to me and in case anything happens they would be the first to notice. They were awesome listening, asking questions (respectfully) and learning about T1D. ▫️ So I can't begin to tell you how happy I am and how comfortable I feel in this place ❤️. ▫️ Insurance should start working May 1 , so only 21 days to go! ▫️ I would recommend anyone that has a nice work environment where you feel comfortable, to educate your coworkers on what to do in case of emergency, you never know! ▫️ #type1 #typelada #type1diabetes #typehappy #typestrong #misdiagnosed #lada #ladawareness #diabetes #diabetic #typeladadiabetic #type1diabetic #t1d #type1lookslikeme #insulindependant #diabadass #omnipod #dexcom

*how I wish my attitude towards diabetes is at all times* But for real been slacking in A LOT of areas lately. Work has once again consumed me while my health & fitness take a back seat and I start to fall into that horrible rut! Feeling like because I’ve been working so many hours that I “deserve” certain things - food I shouldn’t be eating, alcohol I shouldn’t be drinking, online shopping I shouldn’t be doing. Time to hit the reset button How do YOU restart & refresh after pulling yourself out of a rut?!

It took me going into hospital with ketones for my mum to understand that T1D’s CAN EAT CAKE (and whatever else they want) • this came from a few ignorant comments about “diet” and why I was in hospital (which totally wasn’t the case) • she got a bit protective and saw how much those comments made me upset So something good came out of something bad. #happydiabeticchallenge I am Olivia, I am 24 years old and have been diabetic for 12 years (13 in July!) I love eating and sleeping, I have a 3 year old pug called Dobby and I work as a youth worker for the prince’s Trust. I try not to let my diabetes define me but at the same time, I am who I am because of it and so I am also kind of grateful for it. Diabetes has made me more mature, more responsible, more understanding and more resilient and has also taught me to value the little things in life

DIABETES POST INCOMING!! Easter weekend done! Insulin... Required! I think most people overdo it a bit at Easter, but that's fine, you need to indulge in life sometimes! I think for me it's a reminder that eating endless amounts of chocolate just doesn't make me feel good who'd have thunk it? ‍♀️ So today I'm trying to get back to healthy eating and some running in this lovely weather we've been having!
