Somehow, we have managed to keep between 6.2 and 7.5%, largely due to the fact that he was only 6.9 at diagnosis. . Today, Dexcom Clarity gave an estimated A1C of 7.6 and I was dreading clinic as this would have been our highest ever. . So imagine my surprise with 7.0 (53) . Very pleased, but, as always, there is room for improvement and we are going for 6.5 in 3 months time. . Reaching an A1c of 5.0% has been a goal of mine for. So. Long. And today it finally happened! I can’t believe it. ⭐️ - As a Type 1 Diabetic for 34 years this year, I’m well aware that it’s just a number, and that there are so many other factors that play in to what good control means, for example standard deviation. - At the same time, it’s one of the only palpable, slightly objective measure of how I’m doing in terms of diabetes management. And it makes me feel strong in my choices I have made for my management, as well. - I know there’s a whole anti-sharing-your-A1c conversation out there, but I say f*ck it. Different people get inspired and motivated by different things, so if me sharing my A1c perhaps helps someone out there, I’m more than happy to share it. Wide and far. - If I can go from a double digit A1c a few years ago, to a healthy level, so can you. ✨
