I was 14-years-old when I had an emergency surgery that resulted in a colostomy, It was devastating for me. I didn’t know anyone else my age Crohn’s, let alone an ostomy. I thought my life was over. I was ashamed of my body and I was terrified people would find out about my appliance. For years I hid it as much as I could and whenever word got out about it (usually from some asshole ex-boyfriend) I would have an emotional break-down. There were many times I thought about ending my life, I was depressed and felt like I was doomed to live a miserable existence. Over the years I learned to accept my bag and the new life it had given me. Now I proudly show my body for the world to see in hopes that it will maybe help just one person not feel so alone. When I read the article about 10-year-old Seven Bridges ending his life, my heart broke. He was a child, who against all odds was surviving. A child with hopes and dreams. A child who was tormented by other children for the very thing that helped give him life. This little boy is gone, but he will not be forgotten. NOT intended to be an AD . . When everyone’s exited about receiving their Black Friday or Cyber Monday packages in the mail, I’m happy to receive my #Humira . . Tbh I’m really nervous about sharing this but also tired of hiding it. A little over 6 months ago I got diagnosed with an Auto-Immune Disease. An Auto-Immune Disease is a non transferable disease where the body’s immune system starts attacking it’s own healthy cells ☹️. Growing up I always knew something wasn’t right with my frequent doctor visits, constant change in medicine, getting sick all the time, and even hair thinning. I was put on #Humira ever since I was officially diagnosed. #Humira is almost like an “epi-pen” I self inject every week in my lower abdomen. Ever since I’ve been on #Humira I finally feel normal. My hair finally started growing back, i’ve had much less doctor visits, and most importantly for the first time in my life I actually feel healthy. I’m not gonna lie, this past month I had a health scare where I was told by my doctor I might need surgery if my symptoms start to show up again or if the #Humira stops working. I’m not here to praise about #Humira I’m here to bring attention to health & wellness. If anyone reading this also has an auto-immune disease please know you are NOT alone. And seriously ask your doctor about #Humira ! You might be suffering from an auto-immune disease & not even know it. If I knew what I had sooner, I would have jumped on this in a heart beat. Ah, yes. That time again. Had some negative comments on my last, similar post. About keeping my pants on and all that. Kinda hard, injecting into my leg with my pants on.. duh so silly!!! So, I made sure to dress appropriately, this time. Lol just stop putting people down, yeah common with those language jokes. It’s rather pathetic. Sometimes no matter what you eat, #crohns will still be crohns. When your illness is at that stage where you can't hold anything down regardless of whether it's healthy or not it doesn't help when people suggest that you try a different diet.
