JOY// During one of my loneliest years of isolation due to immunodeficiency, which was further dampened by iron deficency anemia, hopelessness swooped down and like a candle snuffer and extinguished joy. . Those feelings were gone and I could not figure out how to get them back. . At the time, I was studying neuroplasticity through @drcarolineleaf and @drjoedispenza I learned that we can retrain our brains, that we can grow new neural pathways with our thoughts. . It was with the intention of finding joy again, in spite of insurmountable loss, that I walked around a lovely lake. . I felt *nothing* as I gazed out over the beauty in front of me but I continued to walk and look and repeat “This Is Joy”. . I said it so many times, almost like you would if you were teaching a new vocabulary word to a child. . Do you know what happened . The next day, I walked around that lake and the feeling of Joy came back to me. . None of my circumstances had changed- the immunodeficiency still had me living in solitude and the iron deficit anemia had me all but crawling from fatigue. . *But Joy* - it returned, and with it, came the desire to keep going. . #BreneBrownQuotes #Joy

8 months. 8 months since I’ve been off of work, but it’s been 10 years with chronic fatigue and pain, 10 years dealing with a growing abscess and 3 1/5 months in a long recovery. I am thankful for the people who surrounded me and for having such a supportive workplace. Because of that I was not only able to prepare my body but prepare my mind. I have had surgery before but this has been one of the most difficult ones. I was fortunate enough to have a planned surgery, but for those you don’t have that, make sure to surround yourself with people who love and support you. I couldn’t of done it it without them. It’s been one of most challenging seasons but the most rewarding. I’ve gotten my life back and don’t regret it. Thank You Lord. I’m ready to get back into my regular routine and be the person I was intended to be. 9 years, 6 doctors, 6 procedures, 5 treatment methods, 4 hospitals, and an endless amount of support later... I’M IN REMISSION!!! Yesterday I underwent my 6th procedure to determine if my #crohnsdisease is clinically in remission... and it is! Hi everyone, I’m inconsistent with my posts recently but I had an appointment with my GI specialist yesterday.. Let me just say, adult care is nothing like that attention you get from children’s hospitals like the IWK. I miss the IWK and how every single person there looks after you no matter how busy they may be! Don’t get me wrong, my doctor and nurse practitioner are so nice but the adult care just has a different way of taking care of you. Since transferring out of child care, I have not been physically examined. I’ve even been in a flare up since December and only saw my doctor yesterday.. I’m trying to be my own advocate but it feels like no one is listening to me. From my appointment yesterday, I found out they are doubling my Simponi injections to every 2 weeks. After 6 weeks of that I will get bloodwork to see how much Simponi is in my system and then I will be getting a colonoscopy to see how much inflammation is going on inside my bowel. Depending on that, I will most likely be switching from Simponi to another medication because we don’t think Simponi is working for me I just hope to get things straightened away before I move back to Halifax for my second year of university || I’ve been thinking about my friend that passed away a lot recently. I miss him so much.. ❤️ I miss talking to him and how we related to each others pain. It feels like I’ll never get over his passing. “Each day as evening starts to set the ache builds in her chest.
