Every mom knows that after running 7 miles you only have 3 seconds to stretch in the driveway before you’re tackled by half your squad of tiny humans...❤️ . This is what happens when #runnerslife + #momlife collide. Quite literally. . Also, I mentioned that I started a new strength training program and if I could make it 3 weeks I’d share the info with you. Well here I am! 3 weeks in and I’m still loving it! I’ve always had a hard time finding running programs that also incorporate strength training, and it can be overwhelming to try to come up with something myself. This is part of the reason I have a hard time sticking with anything. But this program is perfect, and I think you might like it too: . @jointhefitcollective has a monthly online membership where you get 3 strength circuits each week along with endurance training plans, nutrition tips, etc. I personally love that it’s created by DPTs specifically for runners so that we can not only prevent injury, but also improve performance. DPTs are the bomb dot com! . Each Sunday I get a new week of workouts so I don’t even have to think about changing things up. Each workout takes about 30 minutes and I have found that I can really do it them anywhere—my living room, in the driveway, and even at the park while my kids play. Their site is super user friendly and they post videos for each exercise so you can mimic proper form. I like it because it’s simple, laid out in a user friendly way, and only 3x per week. SORE SUNDAY ⁣- 20 races are in the bag for 2019. ⁣ What are your favorite recovery tools and methods?⁣ ⁣ Recovery is very important and when you’ve had the kind of injury history that I’ve had, recovery efforts between races is a full time job. On any given day I might have to spend as much as 2-3 hours on stretching, yoga, epsom salt baths, foam rolling, or using my recovery tools such as @rollrecovery R8, my DIY @theragun , Thera-cane, Denneroll cervical spine tool, @rehabarmory tools, Rumble Roller, accu-pressure mat, or @hidow XPD12, etc. ⁣ Here’s some quick tips to keep you in the game:⁣ ⁣ 1 - Hydrate! This includes post-race...you don’t want to get Rhabdo like I did!⁣ 2 - Rest. It’s OK to take an off-day.⁣ 3 - Eat right...including plenty of protein.⁣ 4 - Take care of your spine! If you don’t have a good chiropractor...get one! @synergyreleasesports is a great one in the Atlanta area that I use.⁣ 5 - Get the knots out. There are SO many good tools now to help with myofascial release. It’s worth the investment!⁣ 6 - Stretch. What’s my number one workout during long blocks of double-race weekends? Yoga. Yep, you read that right. I’m secure enough in my manhood to say it. Sunday stretching! . Iv been stretching a lot more recently due to a shoulder injury that just doesn’t want to budge . And it’s been a little frustrating while teaching and doing my own training but learning to modify and work different muscle groups is always a great challenge. PLANTAR FASCIOPATHY - Plantar Fasciopathy (PF) is best described as a sharp pain in the rear foot that is worse in the morning when out of bed and with weight bearing activities. The pain typically lessens with continued activity, but often increases toward the end of the day. Highly found in middle-aged women, obese individuals, athletes, and/or runners‍♂️. - You may be wondering why the term Fasciitis is not used in the explanation above.
