Can you believe I did my first ever SBA (small bust adjustment) with this dress?! It’s not like my bust has ever been big! I’ve obviously done fittings and adjustments etc but never the real thing. It was easy and kind of fun. I’ll put a link to the tutorial I followed in my Stories later today. I’m participating in @coffeeandthread ‘s tour and this is the Madrid Dress. Isn’t it just gorgeous! There is also another panel for the full skirt experience. I think I’m too clumsy to wear that! The bodice is properly fitted and contains eight darts total. It has an invisible zipper in the side. This is a size 8....with the aforementioned SBA. And would you believe me, when I say the stripe on the sleeve, randomly ended up matching the bodice?! I straight up copied Olga’s idea of cutting the front bodice on the bias, so the stripes creates a V. It looks sooo pretty but my ultra buttersoft rayon from @teliofashion was not ideal for being cut on bias AND having a fairly heavy skirt attached to it. It pulls the bodice side seams. Even after fixing, it just pulled some more. Wide belt to the rescue. It’s just one of those obvious things....in hindsight! ‍♀️ Luckily the belt is actually part of the pattern too and I’m super happy for the result. Wearing white on a hike is percent awesome. If you haven’t tried it before, you definitely should! Especially if you’re hiking in the hot desert. I keep forgetting about these jeans I made last year. They’re very similar to the #philippapants except with all the jean details/pockets. Also the lower leg is cut a bit less tapered and more straight. Actually my first sample of the Philippas were less tapered than they ended up in the final pattern. My pattern testers preferred a more tapered leg, so I altered the pattern in the end. But adding some width to the pant leg is easy to do! Just straighten the inner leg a bit from above the knee to the hem. These jeans also have a slightly lower waist. The top is a self drafted linen tank, very similar to the one I will be releasing along with my linen dress pattern. This is exactly the kind of outfit I want to wear all summer long.

How to finish the back of a hoop? Here’s one of the easiest ways to do it. You simply sew a running stitch around the edge of the excess fabric, then pull the thread to gather it. I'm so excited to share this finally! This is the new pdf pattern Kitty dress @sewoveritlondon ! Going along with the vintage vibes of this dress, with the shawl collar and panelled skirt, I just had to use my precious print from @pandorasfabricbox. It's quite the perfect match for this retro pattern I fall in between sizes and some personal fit adjustments were made. Initially, I was concerned over the time needed for this sew, but the instructions were clear and the dress came together beautifully and actually quite quickly! Many notches were involved but all matched up! Simply love the instructions for the collar, pockets and waistband.
