What do you get when you use a fabric that makes your heart sing with your favourite dress pattern? You get a dress you know you're gonna love wearing ❤️ I bought this fabric on our trip to Amsterdam a few weeks ago, and when I saw it it truly made my heart go pitter-patter. It was a lot more than I'd normally spend on fabric, so I only bought 2m. I actually lay awake in bed on our trip trying to think of how I could use this very special fabric. In my head I had a #bhlzeena in mind but I just couldn't imagine fitting it in 2 m. When I got home and got working on it, I spent 2 hours stubbornly trying to get the pattern to fit - in the end, it meant having to have the rectangles going in different directions, but I didn't care. To me this dress reminds me of a water colour palette, but I've also heard pantone cards either way, I've been trying really hard to be bolder with my fabric choices and I'd say this is a pretty good start . . . . I’ve been obsessed with this @inthefolds #peppermintpeplum for such a long time but never thought I’d make it because I’m a few sizes past their size range.⁣ ⁣ As someone who turned to sewing when she was tired of crying in dressing rooms, I was shocked to find so many indie designers that excluded plus size sewists from their patterns. I understand expanding sizes requires extra work, different blocks, etc, but I have little grading experience and managed to expand this top by 2 sizes in 1 night using a ruler, pencil, and patience. ⁣ ⁣ There are so many beautiful indie patterns that just aren’t available to people over a certain size and isn’t it time for that to change?⁣ ⁣ @inthefolds thank you for being one of the more inclusive indie pattern designers, but don’t you think it’s time to expand on that? Oh hey there! Jumpsuit summer is in full effect here in Scotland. ⠀ .⠀ I got this yummy fabric from @blackbirdfabrics blackbirdfabrics . The pattern is the @mimigstyle (Congrats!! ) jumpsuit I have made this jumpsuit several times and the fit was easy to get. I just follows the suggestions and sizes down and shortened the rise. ⠀ .⠀ Alteration include an omitted collar and a custom pocket ⠀ Pattern: #s8060

Happy release day to @patternscout and congrats on your first garment pattern! I tested the brand new #psferntop a couple weeks ago and have some thoughts to share. Here is what I like about this top. It’s a fitted style top with no closures that is easily popped on over the head (and popped off easily too without having to dislocate a shoulder). The seam lines add an opportunity for color blocking or detail stitching, which can dress up the design of you like. It also works great for fluid or more structured fabrics! I used a lightweight lyocell denim from @joann_stores for mine, and am quite pleased with the way it moves. The only pattern adjustment I did besides grading between sizes was a full bicep adjustment, which is standard practice for me. This ended up with a slightly longer bodice, which I compensated for by shortening the skirt a lil bit. Overall a fun and easy top to make.
