Aoraki Mount Cook; you gorgeous creature. We woke up feeling dejected when we saw all the clouds hanging low and covering all the mountains in the distance, but lo and behold, when the sun peaked at noon, it cleared up to be such a brilliant day! The road into Mount Cook was beautiful, snowy mountains all around! Somehow, being close to the mountains tend to reset my soul and bring peace (as much peace as you can get with a toddler). . We truly did not have enough time here, we only covered one out of the many picturesque hikes! Next time, we definitely will choose to stay at Mt Cook Village instead of driving to and fro. Also, the stars in the night sky here, are unlike any we’ve ever seen, so phenomenal, so unreal, so magical! . Swipe to see Emmie warning Daddy not to strap her into the car seat again! As a working mom, I don't get to spend alot of time with you. Most of the time, you're with the helper. As much as I'm worried you will have preference over aunty than me, tonight you showed me that my role will never be replaced. When I passed you to aunty, you fussed and wanted to come back to my arms. Happily I took you back. . I told you I'm sad and you smiled widely at me, cheering me up instantly. Happy 1st birthday to my darling Baby Ash! Weren’t you in my tummy just a second ago? How did time whizz by so quickly? How did the pregnancy felt so much longer than the duration you came into our lives? You are officially a toddler but you’ll forever be our sweet little baby girl. This birthday post also calls for a 12 month old milestone recap. Ash could walk steadily with her walker toy and park it neatly at corners. She could also walk a few steps on her own. She has learnt to get down from the sofa steadily and twice surprised us when she did so at the bed. She’s a feisty gal and would scream if she can’t get her way or do the things she wants. Her nicknames recently are “guai lan kia”, “捣蛋鬼” and “little ash-hole”. She’s far too active and have been resisting sleep. She climbs everywhere and loves reaching out for things at both bedside tables and pushing them down. She does this on repeat till she falls asleep at midnight, gets up 3-4 times for feed, of which there would be 1 time when she would do that on repeat again for an hour before falling asleep again. ‍♀️ And then she goes to school to sleep and terrorize us at home again. She is adventurous in trying new food and her fave food is cheese. However, she’s still eating very little solids as compared to other babies and would crave for mummy’s milk to end the meal. She remains as affectionate as ever and would pat my back when I carry her. She is also very gentle to animals as she knows they are live objects but whacks her inanimate toys about. She is very talkative in baby blabbers and has FINALLY learnt to call us! *happy dance * She’s saying lots of “mum mum mum mum”, “ma ma ma ma”, “pa pa pa pa”, and also “ma ma” and “pa pa” in a very Chinese accent while looking at us. I didn’t think that she was calling me since I always address myself as “Mummy” and never “Ma Ma”. It was until when she was in distress or pining for me that she would say “Ma Ma” while looking at me earnestly did I realize that she had all along been calling me. And then this little brat called what sounded like “Daddy” thrice. Continue growing well, baby girl and have a wonderful first birthday!

Today we hosted a mini dinner at our house to celebrate Amadea’s upcoming 2nd birthday, and to appreciate some of the closest friends who have stuck with us through the years and seasons. You know they’re true friends when they voluntarily break into a “wheels on the bus” choir over dinner to entertain your offspring. The little one was so excited to “colour my own cake”, and I was reminded again that life’s greatest blessings are found in the simplest things, like a toddler’s giggle, and hearty conversations over sushi and pizza. My wish for you, my children, is to promise you’ll always look out for each other no matter what.. and be best friends forever. I grew up an only child but was never lonely - thankful for cousins @itsyuyu_ @kheems @alosneut; we were like four peas in a pod!
