Some have wondered who I am, so I wanted to introduce myself. I’m Alyson Premo (@alys_wickedsober), the founder of Sober Mom Tribe. Here’s a tiny snippet of my story. I’m a 35 year old single mom to an 8 year old son. Ultimately he saved my life, because if it wasn’t for him I don’t believe I would be alive today. I grew up in middle class suburbia on the shoreline of Connecticut. There was a lot that happened in my childhood that created a lot of pain that was held inside of me for a very long time. I graduated from UConn with a degree in Finance and Real Estate/Urban Economics, got my first job in Rhode Island, got pregnant with my son’s dad who was addicted to painkillers at the time, raised my son on my own without help from his father, and had a decent job in business development. There is so much that happened in that time span, but my breaking point was when both my grandparents who practically raised me died within 9 months of each other, then a couple months later my boyfriend of 3 years broke up with me. In the matter of 2 years I tried to get sober twice. One included going to my mother’s house to detox, another required being admitted to a hospital over night and then being enrolled in an anxiety program at Butler Hospital in Rhode Island. I began drinking again after both those times. I was drinking morning until night. Taking shots before work, getting wine at lunch time, and then going home and drinking again. It was a continuous cycle that I couldn’t get out of. I lost my job and almost lost my son. On November 14, 2016 I decided I couldn’t do this anymore. I was literally going crazy. I took my last sip of wine in a detox parking that afternoon and haven’t looked back. I get DM’s from women on a daily basis of not knowing what to do and saying they can never get to the point where I am today. I am here to show you that if I can do it, so can you. I created Sober Mom Tribe so you wouldn’t have to feel alone in your struggles. My story is filled with a rock bottom, but yours doesn’t have to be. I thought I needed alcohol and drugs to fit in and be myself. The truth is that was never really me! I didn't even know who I was, today I live a life worth living and that I dreamed about having. My journey has turned into a lifestyle that I'm blessed to be present for. A person in long term recovery who loves herself and is able to love others.

Today I’m celebrating 11 years sober from a lifestyle that would’ve landed me in an early grave. Alcoholism is a cunning disease that doesn’t discriminate and I’m grateful every day for the life I have today because I decided to do the work. Rock bottom is the foundation on which this has all been built and I wouldn’t change a thing. ⁣ ⁣⁣ I’m going to get my sobriety story up on YouTube tonight but I just want to say, life is MUCH more fun & meaningful without the drink. On the left was my 21st birthday in Boston and my idea of “fun.” Getting wasted, acting like an idiot and going home with god knows who! ⁣⁣ ⁣⁣ On the right was last year in Mexico. I was pregnant with my daughter and didn’t know yet. I’m in a loving relationship with the man of my dreams and a self made highly successful entrepreneur that travels the world and values her body, mind and spirit. Fun for me now is ACTUALLY LIVING instead of a meaningless existence waiting to die. ⁣☠️⁣ ⁣⁣ They said the promises would come true. They said it would keep getting better.
